The Fine Print

  • Enroll and earn 10,000 bonus Starpoints® after you spend $10,000 in qualifying purchases* between the time of enrollment and June 30th, 2017. Purchases must be made on your Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card starting from the date that you complete your enrollment and ending on June 30th, 2017.

Our Verdict

Some people are gettin this offer now on their SPG business card, though no luck for me. Be sure to hit the full $10k requirement, else you don’t get any bonus at all. Most people value SPG points highly, and getting 2x everywhere on $10k spend is excellent.

There’s a similar email offer which some people got last month to get 5,000 bonus points with $5k spend. If you got both… well, I don’t know what will happen…

The offer is at the top of the card, just below home, statement activity in a grey box. Sorry, I wasn’t able to grab a snapshot before I clicked it. Then you click through and it’s added. Just got an email that says its added. THANKS!

  2. Jesse says:

No dice on mine or my g/f’s card. 🙁

  3. Sam says:

Not targeted. Got it last time though

  4. JD says:

    Nothing on mine.

  5. Great offer! I’ll easily hit that on the business card

  6. Maximillion says:

I’m not targeted for this offer. SPG Business

  7. Ryan says:

Got that on both wife and my cards. I spend about $20k a month on mine so surprised I was targeted.

    • Think it’s just triggered by the AF being due soon. I’m somewhat surprised they don’t target it towards people they know will keep the card regardless of such an offer, I guess that will come later.

  8. farsighted99 says:

no luck on our two cards.

  9. Mike says:

Got (and used) the 5k in $5k back in August or September, whatever these offers first started. Haven’t gotten one since.

  10. Jeff says:

Not targeted, of course. Will be an easy reason to close card once AF hits next month.

  11. Aili says:

Thanks! I was targeted this time. Wasn’t last time.

  12. Abey says:

I applied 4x for the SPG Business card
Got 4x declined for having too many accounts with Amex
Each time i got declined i closed one card.
Im down to 1 personal and 1 business.
I’m getting 35K SPG bonus points by hook or by crook 😛

  13. MH says:

Finally, targeted by email this afternoon!
We are pleased to confirm your enrollment in the American Express OPEN Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card Offer.

And also today by snail mail,

Get 10,000 Membership Rewards points for enrolling in the Extended Payment Option.

  14. Kyle says:

Got targeted for this one, thanks Doc. I have my AF coming up for the SPG and SPG business so this just furthers my decision on which to keep….I seem to have a lot better luck with Amex offers on the biz card too.

  15. sirtheta says:

Amex is good. I have a Google alert set up for exactly these offers and Amex always sends out the e-mails at least a day before I get an alert.

  16. dan says:

mine is not offered; as my card’s AF will come due next month, wonder that amex’s retention folks may extend this offer to my acct if i call to cancel? wonder if amex retention folks have flexibility or just go by what the system shows?

  17. NO NAME FOR A REASON... says:

Can anyone provide personal experience feedback on AMEX and Gift Card buys/MS? I am taking advantage of the OM/OD discounted GC deal and wondering if I should meet my $10K spend need by buying some of those cards instead of using my INK card. First, I suppose, is the 20,000 in SPG pts worth more than 50,000 in Chase UR? Then, will AMEX take note of the spend type and claw back points or limit the account?
