Our Verdict
SPG card normally earns 2x points on SPG/Marriott purchases and 1x points on all other purchases. If you spend $5,000 exactly this is basically an additional 1x point per $1 spent. Given how valuable SPG points are, I’d definitely be happy getting 2x points per $1 spent.
It seems to be targeted to those with the annual fee becoming due soon, that makes it less of a good deal unless you planned on keeping the card anyway.

I got the offer but I’m not sure I can spend $5000 in two months without MS which is not recommended due to Amex RAT.
Did not get email either, but is said eligible for me too. Would have to imagine they would honor it now no matter what.
Important Note for all: It specifically says it can’t be prepaid Visa cards, so this would probably have to be real spend.
Still very much worth it, I think. A chance to take a little break from recent inquiries while accumulating about $125 of Starwood value.
I did not get the email but the link said I was eligible on Personal SPG card and my renewal is around End of March or beginning of April this year.
My AF is due soon. Going to take advantage of this promo and then call in for retention offers, then cancel if they don’t have any. I already have SPG Biz card so don’t need both.
I got the offer (after I checked the link supplied here) and I was targeted. My annual fee is coming up for the first time in about a month.

got this also and my AF is due soon so definitely targeted for people with AF coming up. already called for retention and no offers. gonna wait til AF posts to call again. hoping to get another offer on top of this offer but this might be enough to get me to keep the card.
