5% In-store cashback from Rakuten (card-linked) looks to have tracked today for my purchase earlier in the week. Unfortunately, it showed only Mastercard as eligible for this particular offer, so no CIC. I was working on the SUB for the Bank of America business card so at least I earned 3% CB with the office supply category selected. Idk if it’ll actually payout or not, but figured it was worth a shot. The offer mentioned that it could only be redeemed once by 8/22 and for a $50 maximum. That being said, I currently have more than $50 worth of CB pending for this transaction.

Is it only valid for 1 transaction? It says unlimited use on the offer page, but I tried to relink my card today for the staples offer and it showed an error message……

That’s odd it shows unlimited for you. My iphone app shows “Limit of 1 redemption per user for this offer”. When i tried relinking it, it would just spin and nothing would happen

Can you use staples GC to buy the VGC? I saw the option at checkout to add a staples GC. Wasn’t sure if it would work. Any DPs would be appreciated!

Are there any data points on how many $200 GCs per transaction or month using Ink Biz Cash will trigger a threat/shutdown from Chase?

This did not work today in Staples in Maryland. Basically they checked out 5 total ($1,000) and the fees did not come off. They said there was nothing they could do to fix the price. They acknowledged it ahould be discounted but werent very helpful in trying to find a resolution…will try a different Staples tomorrow

This happened to me once. Very frustrating as the manager doesn’t seem motivated to try.

I’m in Maryland too and I just got back from a staples trip and the fees got deducted from mine. Probably just unlucky w/ the store.

Are MB VGC from Staples working for full $200 per swipe for loading BB Amex? Would appreciate latest confirmation as it wasn’t working a week or two ago. Thanks

I tried loading BB Amex (amt $199.xx) using MB VGC from Staples (BIN 4358 80, exp 1/29) at a regular cashier terminal yesterday. It was rejected with error code 01 (debit not available) and it showed Tender Not Allowed on the monitor. So for Staples MB VGC, loading BB Amex in the amt >99 appears to be dead. This is a WM location where I haven’t had any such issues till July 17. I will try it one more time tomorrow, but it appears to be dead. I will try loading <= $99 as well.

FYI– at the Chicago (Uptown) location I visited today, I needed to inquire with management as they were not on display. YMMV.

Per Reddit poster, full swipe of $198 worked with MB VGC from OD/OM. Not Everywhere or 5 Back. These are the same cards they sell at Staples. So it seems $99 limit per swipe a week or two ago might have been a glitch. As usual, YMMV.

Anyone have experience liquidating these by depositing to a sportsbook? They don’t accept any of my credit cards, but curious if they will take the prepaid card.

My Staples now refuses to sell the $200s. In-store they stated they no longer want to deal with Visa headquarters as the store was out $200 a few weeks ago – their version.

This store has now stripped the GC display of $200s. Since this is advertised in the store flyer, does a customer have any rights regarding this deal not being offered (I’m in Florida)? Just curious if any others have run into this at their Staples as well.

They don’t want to deal w Visa headquarters? What do they mean? What do you mean they were out, out of the gift cards or did they have to eat $200?

I would complain to Staples HQ. Make sure that you get the info from a mgr who made the decision and then report them. If HQ tells you that it’s the mgr’s decision, then that’s that. But, the thought of a store hiding products or refusing to sell certain items bc it’s creating work for them or bc they they don’t think that the store doesn’t make enough money from it really irks me.

The store was out $200 because Visa wouldn’t fix whatever the problem was. Now this store does not want to deal with Visa. Thanks for the suggestions.

Resolved (hopefully): I went to this Staples store this morning to discover that all managers have been replaced within the last 3 weeks. One of the employees who knows me clued me in that the new management now only sells to well-known customers. She went to the Manager, told him I’m a regular, and he went in the back and brought me the VGCs. I definitely got the vibe there is much more to the story than what I was previously told.

“Since this is advertised in the store flyer”

Bait and switch?
