Our Verdict

400k steps is a lot for a month, that’s almost 13k steps per day. 150 Stars isn’t a lot either, but always good to have a little reward to encourage more exercise and with the amount of unhealthy freebies we probably need to post some exercise deals as well. Other Starbucks deals are as follows:

Thanks. Just joined the challenge. Love a triple espresso caramel frapuccino (venti). Probably like 2000 calories, but i guess can make it up with all those steps 😀

Your dog must be way more active than mine

I have a couple of dogs that have me doing at least 9k steps a day. I think I could probably hit this and this seems like it would be worth a few drinks.

Not super crazy for me to do this (I get 7000 minimum just from walking to work/keeping phone in my pocket most of the time- closer to 10k if it’s really busy at work) and I’ll probably knock out a good chunk if I end up going on this camping trip (usually ~40-45k steps a day there), I’ll give it a whirl.  William Charles definitely interested in “healthier” deals!

I’ve been looking at more “churns” like this in the step counting space. Dinky but I’ll take a bribe to exercise any day

Have you seen that fitness credit card that gives you a flat 3 percent cash back on everything if you meet their goals and something where if you meet goals for a year you get credit back on a Apple Watch? I vaguely saw something about it but don’t remember the exact deals.

I believe (and I could be mistaken, but I believe) you are thinking of Fitness Bank and their “Fitness Savings Account”. When it first started it was 3% APY on your savings account balance if you met their daily step goals. However that 3% was repeatedly-decreased every few months until it is now at 0.55% APY for meeting the highest-tier daily step goal (and only 0.15% if you don’t meet any of their goals).

Most of us can easily get 0.55% APY without any additional requirements (and without the possibility of accidently earning 0.15% if you miss your goal for a day), so Fitness Bank is a bit pointless now. (Pointless for the financial incentives, though if you still want the added fitness incentives of absolutely having to meet those step requirements each and every day, I suppose it could still be useful for that very-specific reason.)

Found it : https://paceline.fit/credit-card/… the annual fee of $60 ruins it for me.

Oh, that! I forgot all about that one. And I probably forgot all about that one because of the $60 annual fee you just mentioned, lol.

I’ve connected my apple health to garmin connect. Where do you see the steps?

6 miles per day while WFH, every single day. That’s not easy.

6 miles is easy for me, but I don’t have a garmin device so I pretty much have to be carrying my big, heavy phone with me when doing exercises and that’s not easy.

Do you have an Android? There’s apps that allow you to add fake steps, such as DeFit.

It could be a bit daunting if you are trying to manage exactly-equal amount of steps every single day. But if you are taking a Saturday each week and going on a long nature hike or something where you knock out 30,000 steps all at once, the other days (of course) require significantly fewer steps per day.

And hey, if you come up a bit short after a month, you’ll still get a lot of exercise and some fresh air out of the endeavor.

I couldn’t have managed it last month (far too much snow/ice on the ground in my area), but with the weather warming up, I think I might have a few mountain trails waiting for me in my near future.

It’s not that hard. I hit over 11K a day normally without a thought and have a desk job. I usually get up every hour and walk around the house for 5 minutes and often a walk outside each day. But like P, I don’t have a Garmin. And pushing to get a couple K more per day to get a free sugary drink seems counterproductive.

Fwiw I don’t get sugary drinks at Starbucks. Just a plain black coffee no sugar. Particularly useful when traveling- in airport or rest stop where there’s no other store

I know you don’t have to, I just meant that pushing walking/exercise to get a free drink at Starbucks, which is known for its sugary drinks seems counterproductive.

Seems a lot easier than working where you commute? I easily waste an hour or two each day in my car, it sucks. Totally wish I did jobs where I could WFH
