If two player mode, could sandwich Stay in Vancouver promo with the Wyndham stay twice in Canada, get free night promo: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/en-ca/hotel-deals/free-hotel-night-canada

Thanks a TON for the tip off. Was just about to book an airbnb stay for late july 2019 and this makes it both cheaper and better to book in a hotel.

These amounts are USD or CAD?

Each hotel’s first night is $50-$150, and subsequent nights are all $50

Granted the YWCA Hotel is a discount hotel, but the advertised rate on that site is significantly higher than directly through the hotel ($123 CAD vs $99 CAD nightly, $85.50 CAD weekly) $50 first night.

Any confirmation if the Amex card is in USD or CAD? I assume CAD, which would still make it worth it to use this site (by about $10 CAD/night)

Based on the 2017 thread, the Amex card is in CAD.

Hmm, i wonder if you could use it in the states then or if you had so somehow convert it into USD before leaving.

My priorities with booking a hotel are:

1. Is there a roof over my head?

2. Does the place not have bedbugs?

3. Will I not get sick from sleeping in this hotel?

For me at least, hotels are where you sleep and sleep only. You’re on vacation after all, so spend as much time as you can outside actually ON vacation and not in your hotel.

Not even shaming it. It’s actually in a great location and the rooms are nice. Hallways could use refurbishment and the shower needed to be unclogged, but for that area of Vancouver and the view I had it was a steal.

Not sure if I missed this, but is the reward in USD?

I did this one a couple of years ago. It was a real pain to get the gift cards and it turned out that they were limited in what categories you could spend it on. We were also put in a Priceline room which didn’t have heat (in the dead of winter).

I get temped by these kinds of deals, but just keep in mind that it can amount to a lot of time and effort to achieve real value.

Can’t the cards be used against the room rate?

The gift cards are limited to what, if you dont mind me asking.

How was getting the gift card a pain? The 2017 thread had a comment that indicated the gift card could be spent on the room rate. Is that true?

How on earth could they limit what the gift card could be used on? Its an amex gift card, in theory anything should work.

Turn your UR points into cash, use cash to do the booking.

Do the math to see if it makes sense obvoiusly.
