Update 4/14/20: Deal is back, only offering $35 back this time and also requires a 45 day subscription so not a money maker or break even. The service might be more popular now due to isolation though. Hat tip to reader Jared G
Update 6/20/19: Deal is back. HOWEVER, this time requires 45 day subscription so it won’t result in a moneymaker. The 10,000 MyPoints deal is back as well, also with the 45 day requirement.
Update: You could also get 10,000 MyPoints, that’s worth more, see comments for more discussion.
Update 01/03/19 : It has been increased to $50 back, so you make a $14 profit and get three nights of meals for two. Hat tip to reader Celia.
The Offer
- Swagbucks is offering 5,000 points (worth $50) when you sign up for a Gobble meal box. Gobble will also give you 50% off your first box and free shipping.
The Fine Print
- *SB will appear as Pending for 32 days. Must enter valid sign-up information, including credit card information to earn SB. Offer may only be redeemed once (1) per user.
Our Verdict
Deal is even better, you’re making profit and getting free food.
Cheapest option seems to be three nights of meals for two below, that comes out to $35.97 after discounts with free shipping. You get $33 in Swagbucks back, so basically paying $2 for a total of six meals. No way would I be willing to pay full price of $70+ for this, but with the 50% off and the Swagbucks back it seems to be a good deal to me.
If you’re new to Swagbucks, please read our review. You can also get a bonus of up to $13 by using a referral link.
Beware of swagbucks. They put my account under review yesterday when I had 230 dollars ready to be cashed out. This was my first account and I did not violate TOS.
So what’s the deal with this? If you sign up with shopathome.com (which it also currently $35 back and does not say that you need to purchase 2 boxes), can you actually skip purchases after the first box and just stay active until the $35 credits? Have people gotten the $35?
I don’t know why but recently swagbucks doesn’t track all my offers.
Did this last time on Swagbucks, never got credited. After back and forth with them, for over 2 months, they didnt honor the purchase. Wasted my time and money. Hate swagbucks, this isnt the first time they didnt honor a purchase either.
Do you have any adblocker installed? Did you provide payment proof when disputing?
That happened to me as well, didn’t track. Don’t use Adblock or anything. They finally did honor it as a courtesy, haD all the screenshots. First time it had ever happened with Swagbucks, hasn’t happened again, just Gobble. Was pretty widespread issue on that offer if I recall at the time.
How do you get it for ~$20?
Min cost is $36, and I can’t unselect any meals? $36 cost is really a deal breaker for me
You could skip weeks during your subscription and stay subscribed without paying for a few weeks in between.
Thanks, we’ll repost this.
I don’t think it’s the same deal anymore.
Per the terms from the link:
“Subscriptions cancelled within 45 days may result in SB being revoked. Must purchase at least 2 boxes within 45 days from initial sign-up.”
With 2 boxes needed (+shipping on 2nd) its no MoneyMaker at all… 🙁
I looked at this SB deal a few weeks ago (including the MyPoints one with the exact same terms – see here: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/mypoints-sign-up-for-gobble-get-10000-points-worth/#comment-752545) and ultimately decided to go with shopathome (got my $50 cashback with only 1 box order there).
Hope this helps someone… 🙂
Thanks! I’ve added a note.
Just to make it more clear here in the comments for others who might be still interested in it:
1.) The 45 day requirement does NOT matter, since you can easily sit out of all future weekly shipment.
2.) But: “Must purchase at least TWO BOXES within 45 days from initial sign-up.” -> 2 boxes will cost you more than $50!
Use this instead: https://www.shopathome.com/Gobble-coupons.html (NO 2-box minimum!)
Thank you. I feel that Chuck should add this in its own post. It’s the better deal.
So did you get the $35 after buying just one box?
Yesterday a Gobble rep said a glitch in their system caused an order to process by accident. I just got off the phone with Gobble today and they just shipped me this order today I did not request and they want to bill me about $80. I am escalating the issue to a supervisor and waiting for a call back. I will update later here. First time I have had an issue like this.
Anyone with similar issues?
Still waiting for phone call from Gobble supervisor. After this experience, I plan to start using virtual CC numbers. Too much hassle. I just called my CC company to dispute the charge. Just remember the potential hassle factor when doing these SB offers.
UPDATE: I had to call Gobble again and talked with the original Gobble rep that originally said there was a glitch and the order was shipped by mistake. He reviewed the voice call recording and agreed that he said there was a glitch and sent me an email confirming a refund on this shipment for about $80.
If I did not talk with the original rep and he did not have a voice recording, I very likely would have had to fight for this refund.
Lessons:
1) Start using virtual CC #s and take control of subscriptions
2) Might start auto recording calls on my iPhone
Note: Still waiting for the Swagbucks 5,000 credit on this offer!
UPDATE: The 5,000 SBs finally posted on the March 13. Almost 2.5 months! I began to doubt the SBs would post after SB stopped responding to emails for the last 2 weeks.
Why is this marked as expired?
Not available anymore is it?
It has continued to be available on swagbucks. Just checked again and 5000 SBs are still available on my account (it didn’t track when I redeemed it in January).
Shows available when I click on the link.
MyPoints offer is also available as well.
