Synchrony has just launched the new Citgo credit card, previously this card was issued by Citibank’s Retail Services division. The new card has a slightly improved rewards program as follows:
- 10¢ in fuel credits per gallon purchased at Citgo locations for the first three months
- 5¢ in fuel credits per gallon purchased at Citgo locations after the first three months
Previously this card just earned 5¢ in fuel credits per gallon purchased. You can earn up to 5% cash back on all gas purchases with other credit cards, so gas would need to be under $1 a gallon (or under $2 a gallon for the first three months) for this card to make sense in comparison (and gas prices at Citgo would need to be the cheapest option). Gas is cheap, but not that cheap.
