Our Verdict
They usually run a 10% off Target gift card deal annually in December. That deal had a $500 limit in 2020, and it’s possible that this new 5% deal being launched will have a similar limit as well.
Don’t use your Target REDcard to pay since there’s no discount for Target gift card purchases. Can’t think of any category bonus for Target.com, just use a regular everyday credit card.

Altitude Reserve should be able to be used for 3x points (4.5% towards travel) if you checkout with Apple Pay.
Far better deals just buying from the secondary market.
Used the rest of my amex paypal credit to buy some.
Chuck UMB Simply Cash is what should come to mind for Target, Walmart, and other discount or grocery stores: 3% cash back always in effect.
Please don’t disrespect the question. I’m not a regular or typical Target shopper but occasionally stop in for a look-see visit. Can the digital Target GC be somehow used in a physical store visit?
Jan B yup! You can have the cashier scan the giftcard Barcode from the email or you can add the giftcard to your Target app and scan from there
Thank you, Ben!
I got an offer on my Banana Republic card: Spend $300 in June and get $30 rewards. So I‘ll buy $300 Target gift card with my Banana card.
Then go to Target and buy some Bananas for cheap!
The OnJuno debit card can give 5% cashback at Target.
I got the temporary 5x miles bonus on my chase personal southwest for up to $1500. Seems like this would be a good usage for the $500 GC to get 2500 miles

Use that same Ink Cash card to buy a fee-free $200 VGC at Staples this week and then buy $210.52 of Target GCs with it!
