Our Verdict

If you have any questions about upgrade offers, please read this post before asking any questionsGeneral American Express questions are likely answered here. You should be able to get the bonus points from this offer even if you’ve held the Gold card before, so might be worth considering from that perspective as you’d normally not be able to get a sign up bonus like this again.

You’d have to be certifiable not to upgrade to Gold. Single best card out there…

3 Golds + Schwab cashout = life changing money maker.

how can get three gold cards?

Open one, then PC Platinum and Green (hopefully with an upgrade offer like in the article).

3 ways to get gold:
1. Product change from other charge cards like green and platinum.
2. Apply through a no-lifetime language offer.
3. Apply through a referral/or regular offer. (If already have gold, you still might get approved with no sign up bonus, which still can be a great deal for some people.)

You can’t.

OP is talking about personal gold + business gold + delta gold.

Once you get a credit card there’s absolutely no way to get it again. Don’t even waste time researching.

Had to double check the article, but we’re talking about Amex MR-earning Gold, not Delta, right?

You absolutely can have the same card twice or more at the same time. I have two Luxury SPG, one from sign up, one from PC. Please don’t make blanket statements without verifying first.

If spending your free time cycling between grocery stores and buying money orders to clear around $3,000 after annual fees is a life changing money maker for you, then you should change your life in other ways.

I’m on pace to clear closer to 18k this year… not even including SUBs. Maybe you make way more than me, but that’s a life-changing amount for my situation. And I always MS to make net profit prior to counting the points/miles, so all the AFs are negated, and then some.

Assuming you max the grocery spend and pay the AF on all 3 Golds you have 100 * ($25000*3*~3.9%) – (250*3) / ($75000) = roughly 2.9% cash back. I realize you probably got a signup bonus on one and an upgrade offer on another and saved some $$ by downgrading from vanilla Plat on the third, but just on its face what you wrote is not a life changer.

So this is the math I’ve done for my situation. As for anyone else, it’s always YMMV in this hobby.

I’ve earned a total of 733k MR so far since I got my first MR card July 2018. That’s roughly $9100 when cashed out. In that time, I’ve opened these cards; listed AF and I’ve put in parentheses the money I get back from reselling airline GCs: 0 Green, $550 Schwab (minus $160), $550 Plat (minus $160), 0 Gold year one (plus $80), 0 BGR, $450 Biz Plat (mins 160). Total fees paid is $1,150. I’m still coming out about 8 grand. As I said above, maybe 8 grand isn’t meaningful to some, but that allowed me to pay off a student loan, and get on track for paying another one in the span of a year. Yes, in year 2, some AFs will go up, but so will the number of cards I can MS, and I’m fairly confident I can sustain a pace of 5 figures a year unless major MS avenues change (which is always a concern). But I’m just trying to make some small positive financial changes in my life while the means are present.

The liquidation where I am at is just time consuming. Only one MO at a time in a day and even then some associates don’t allow gift cards and some don’t care. You end up making about$10 per $500 vgc. Just not worth it.

That’s a bummer. I definitely had a slow start, and frustrating with denials. Just kept going around to different stores until I found friendly cashiers, develop rapport with them, and now have a routine.

I agree it’s not life changing but it is the single best MS opportunity I’m currently aware of.

From Green > Plat upgrade, I got a 25K/$2K offer in the mail but also a 60K/$5K Plat upgrade offer online. This was for my Green that was converted from a Plat.

Another person got the offer too. It shows up in the AmEx Offfers section and as a banner below your current transactions.

Wasn’t targeted for this yet but have the useless green…was waiting for the supposed revamp of the green card but would do this upgrade if can get the 40k!

Any workaround as to getting this offer?

Will this offer show for card accounts less than a year old? I have a Green that I applied for earlier this year and received the sign up bonus.
