Our Verdict

If possible you’ll want to save it on an American Express card with one (or more) of the following offers:

I suspect this might only be an offer for personal cards, in which case the top two offers won’t be available unfortunately. Also a shame this is after all the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales but fingers crossed we see some more good deals from Dell.

How easy is it to resell a laptop? Along with the 10% back at ebates, cyber week sales and this, I’m thinking of buying one to do so.

Very difficult.
People basically want Black Friday prices.
You’ll get tons of low ball offers.
They don’t care about specs or anything.

The sweet spot is < $100.
Last Christmas I sold a used Dell laptop for that price.
I think the guy was in a rush and needed it as a gift.

I have just got an Dell Inspiron 15 5000 from Costco (Item 1372719; Model i5593-7988SLV-PUS) for $599.99 as one of its laptop deal on ads.

The same model from dell.com (https://deals.dell.com/en-us/productdetail/3g3q) is now $799.99.
A lot of rebate websites give 10% cashback for dell.com currently.

So,
$800 – 10% – 120 = $600.

Good math, Dell.

(of course you might made 8000 MR rather than $80 from Rakuten/Ebates, which is better)

One more thing:
I am very sure I saw another dell.com SKU had the same tech specs which was $699.99 (no touchable screen) + $50 for changing to a touchable LED ($749.99 in total) during Dec 3rd 00:00-03:00 ET / Dec 2nd 21:00-24:00 PT, when I got the Amex offer (I am living in the east coast).

So, there might be a few hours Amex provided the offer when Dell did not hide the old price. An out-of-sync of west-east coasts?

It was live last night around 11pm Pacific at least. Managed to snag aw3418dw monitor for $450 including 10% tax after this deal and 15% cashback. It was definitely a small time window though. Probably not intended by Amex/Dell
