Our Verdict
This is a fairly standard deal we see from AmEx & Marriott. In the past purchasing gift cards at the front desk has triggered the offer despite the terms.
I can confirm that this Amex Offer works on multiple charges. Live chatted with an Amex rep to ask the question and was told yes, and they made notes on my account in case it didn’t post on its own. But it did.

03/01 – $180.22 charged at Springhill Suites
03/02 – $50 credit posted

WOW, Marriott stepping up their game on Amex offers, presumably to compensate for annual fees and lack of travel.
Just checked SO marriott for the below referenced $10 restaurant offer and did NOT find that, but instead found this preferable offer for $15 off $15+ wireless telephone service.

I haven’t seen anyone post this or any DoC post on this, but as I was adding this offer to my marriott biz card I saw another offer that surprised me:
“Spend $10 or more at U.S. restaurants, earn $10 back once a month, through 2021”
I checked all of my cards for variations on this and it appears this is a marriott specific promotion as referenced in the T&C below:

Will using this across multiple bookings trigger this?
In the past, the offers have been written both to allow the charges to be cumulative and to require larger single charges. This one seems to require the $200+ in a single charge.
I’m not sure I agree. It doesn’t say that specifically, but it also doesn’t say it works on cumulative charges. Very strange for Amex…

Received this…one question: can this $200 be spread across 2 stays (as in, two separate stays of $100) or does it have to be one charge of $200? The T&Cs are confusing.
For the last few offers, this has always worked for marriott and hilton cumulative spend to meet this offer.
I read this one as needing to be done with a minimum of $200 in a single transaction.
“Qualifying purchase means a purchase at a participating Marriott property made during the offer period with your enrolled American Express Card and which is in an amount totaling at least $200 USD as posted to your account, following conversion from a foreign currency, if applicable, in accordance with your Card Member Agreement.”
I’d like to be wrong on this one! The flexibility to have multiple charges accumulate would be preferable, but usually there is language specifically allowing that like “one or more”.
Yeah, that’s how i read it too, so I hope I’m wrong. I have a 22.5K just for you offer and I need 3 stays. Would love to split this between 2.
