The Offer
- Avianca’s LifeMiles program is currently offering some members up to 140% bonus on purchased points. Discount/cost per miles depends how many you purchase:
- 1,000 to 50,000 miles, 115% bonus (1.535¢ per mile)
- 51,000 to 100,000 miles, 130% bonus (1.435¢ per mile)
- 101,000 to 200,000 miles, 140% bonus (1.375¢ per mile)
The Fine Print
- Limit of 200,000 in point purchases
Our Verdict
Avianca was just added as an American Express transfer. You can also get 60,000 miles through the Avianca cobranded credit card. You can also buy Avianca miles through a subscription service costing 1.39¢ per mile, this is a better deal than that. Personally I get enough miles through credit card sign up bonuses so I’d never purchase points at 1.375¢ but others might. I’d have a specific redemption in mind if purchasing points.

hi will, is there any reason to keep the avianca vuela visa card after youg et the 60k bonus? in you r opinion
Not really
anyone recommend LifeMiles/Avianca as DoC pointed out in the other post that they don’t have fuel surcharges or close in booking fees? the comment thread in the Amex post was pretty sparse for sweet spots or success stories.. i’m weighing what to churn next or to just sit tight and wait to go under 5/24 to get United Card and/or a UR card.
They do have a $25 booking fee for all tickets, but their cancelation fees are much less than United’s. Do the math before you decide where to book through.
