Our Verdict

Some things to note:

The nice thing about these offers is that there is no minimum spend requirement. It’s also nice that it isn’t issued by one of the major card issuers. I will be adding this bonus to our best credit card bonuses. Avianca has short haul domestic flights starting at 7,500 miles. You can view the full award chart by clicking here.

Annual fee of $149 was posted to my account few days ago and I called in to cancel the card. Was told they were not able to waive the fee even I choose to close out the account. WTF? Anyone had similar experience

I just got an email today with a promo code for a bonus 20K miles – total 60k. 40K miles for spending $1K within 90 days. Additional 20K bonus for meeting that spend IF you enter the promo code at the time you apply.

Is calling the only way to close this card?

Spent forever trying to figure out how to get the password for the life miles account. And thus far have failed to get it. Not sure if I got the points or not. I failed to read they charged an annual fee, so not what I was expecting.

I wonder if there is any new code for the new year

I’m wondering the same. I applied with this same code right before this post was updated stating it was working. I wonder if the code still works now as well.

Instantly approved for myself and spouse. I had no trouble using Firefox with my ad extension disabled. I received no errors during either application and have very little otherwise to report.

Update: Received both cards within a week. Was able to instantly activate via phone and register for online access through their website (https://www.myonlinecreditcard.com). When registering, make sure that you include “Mr” or “Mrs” before your name (which is how the card itself reads). My online information was rejected when registering when using my name without the prefix.

I’ve already made a $0.50 Amazon purchase which shows pending. I’ll report back if this earns the 60,000 miles.

Just letting everyone know, or if it hasn’t already been posted but Banco just posted the account to all three bureaus a week after I go approved… This seems rather odd that I don’t even have the card in hand yet and it’s already reported along with the annual fee on utilization. Had hoped to pay the fee along with my one purchase before actually posting it, wth is that about…

I’m getting the error message “Unfortunately, you are not able to apply at this time, we were not able to validate the information you provided” no matter the browser I try, all extensions disabled. Any ideas?

Appreciate the guidance of anyone who knows the answer :
I’m applying for the Avianca Vuela Visa using the designated code for the 60,000 mile welcome bonus. Got to the submit application and info listed says I will receive 40,000 miles welcome bonus. At what point will it reference the 60,000 miles or it is just not accepting the code? Do I need to go back and hit an accept code button, or ?
I don’t want the card (and the $149 yearly fee) for 40,000 miles so I haven’t hit submit yet.

Both me and my wife got instantly approved today for Avianca Vuela Visa card. I outlined the steps to make the process easy:
1. Apply in incognito mode so there are no issues with popup blockers/ad blockers etc.,
2. Leave the LifeMiles membership number blank if you don’t have one.
3. Enter promo code LM17WB.
4. Enter all the personal information. Make sure a good cell number is provided as they will text you a code for verification.
5. After text verification, they will ask you few security questions about your car loans/mortgages etc.,
6. If you make a mistake, the web-page will say the “information is not accurate” “cannot verify identity” etc.,. You can redo the application immediately in that case and answer the same/different questions correct.
7. Next page you will fill out your mortgage payments/income
8. Once you click submit, you are either approved in a few seconds or rejected.
9. Calling the reconsideration number is not very helpful. I was rejected twice this year without clear explanation and I tried every 3 months and finally got approved (Thanksgiving special).
10. Me and my wife are ~20/24 (~680-730 scores) and got approved with 15/17K credit lines.
11. You can call 1844-294-2576 after 24 hours to confirm that they applied the code properly.
12. One should try again if you were not approved before, as this code may not work after December.

60K X2= 120K Avianca miles are worth at least $4000 if you use wisely for a overseas destination.

Last week, we booked 2 one way nonstop business class flights from SYD-IAH on united (Sept 2019 worth 14K) for 160K Avianca miles transferred from Citi Prestige.

Good luck!

just applied and got approved after the site going down and issues with the promo code. Interesting that they gave me the lowest APR possible, not that i am complaining.

I am guessing that the LifeMiles member number is given to you from the card since i currently don’t have one?
