[Targeted] BBVA: Apply For New Credit Card & Get 5% Until End Of Year

The Offer

No direct link to offer, sent out via e-mail. E-mail subject line ‘Earn 5% points with a new BBVA Credit Card.’

  • BBVA is offering some members 5% back until the end of year when they apply for a new BBVA credit card by November 30, 2020.

The Fine Print

  • Offer is available only for new BBVA ClearPoints, Rewards Card, and Select credit card accounts opened between November 1-30, 2020. From November 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020 you will earn standard program reward points per $1 based on the Build Your Own Rewards, Relationship, or other point multiplier applicable to your account.
  • By January 31, 2021, you will receive a one-time point adjustment where we round up all points earned so that the total points per qualifying purchase November 1, 2020 – December 31, 2020 is 5 points per $1 spent (minus any returns and merchant adjustments).
  • Offer is non-transferable.
  • Account must be open and in good standing at the time the points are added to receive the extra points.

Our Verdict

Gives you less than two months to really use it, even less by the time you wait for the card to get to you. Could make sense for some big spenders if you can cycle your credit limit.

The last thing I want is another account with this dumpster fire of a bank. See the DoC post on their Select card for an idea if what I went through.

Same here. I’ll be closing every accout with them as soon as I can.

For those who aren’t doing any sort of things that might trigger a CA, it’s still a pretty good offer — $500+/$4k

Hard pass for me.
5% cashback SUB isn’t really impressive given the current credit card landscape.
