The Offer

Offer sent out via e-mail, unknown subject line

  • Some Best Buy credit cardholders have been targeted for 5% back on all grocery store purchases until 8/31

Our Verdict

This is 5% back in best buy points, but the lack of cap makes it interesting for some people. You can find the normal best grocery store credit cards by clicking here.

I have a business tax exempt Best Buy account. Does anybody know if I would be able to get 5% back in rewards with this card for all best buy tax exempt purchases? Thanks in advance.

You will not, i have a Citi best buy card, and i did not get any points for whatever i buy with a tax exempt code for a buying group. (by the way they made it harder to use a tax exempt code).

Also, everyone should know that they have a corporate team that looks over rewards accounts that have earned a high number of Best Buy points or otherwise been flagged and they reset your account, removing your elite status and all points, pending or posted. They do this by reassigning you a new membership number and all your purchase history will be gone as well. No attempt is made to contact you, the only way you find out is when you either get a “welcome to Best Buy” email randomly, or when you can’t login in with with Face ID as in the past. Their system sends you a survey request the day after the shutdown, make sure to leave them a nice review. This has happened to me three times, once for buying too many Apple products, once after attempting a price match by phone, and the last when I purchased a lot of BB giftcards. Don’t trust them.

You lost everything? No compensation?

Yes, everything is forfeited; that’s why it takes 15 days for points to go from pending to posted- they want to give their team time to review accounts of interest before releasing award points. Just want others to know this so they don’t put spend on BB credit cards or purchases with the expectation they will receive these pending rewards (in case they are deciding if it is worth doing this vs doing business with more trustworthy companies).

Cash+ with electronics category over BB card. It can be interesting as a lol/24 card.
Plus you earn 5% cash + base best buy points. The only thing I use this card for is targeted offers.

Thanks for the advice. Were you still able to use certificates that had already been issued?
