The Offer

No direct link to offer. Sent out via e-mail. Subject line is ‘Starting today! Earn up to $2,000 in spend bonuses.’

  • Capital One is offering some business spark cardholders a spending bonus of up to $2,000.
    • Get $500 when you spend $15,000 within three months (April 15th to July 15th, 2019)
    • Get an additional $1,500 when you spend $50,000 within six months (April 15th to October 15th, 2019)

The Fine Print

  • This limited-time bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account identified in this email.
  • If you change your account to another credit card product, or if your account becomes delinquent, closed, restricted, over the credit line, or otherwise not in good standing, you will not be eligible for these promotions or any spend bonuses.

Our Verdict

Both the spark business cards earn either 2% cash back or 2x points and the above spending bonuses are in addition to that earning rate. On the first $500 bonus you’re basically earning an additional 3.33% cash back and on the next $1,500 bonus you’re earning an additional 4.28% cash back. This means with the standard 2% cash back you’re earning well over 5%. Keep in mind you need to hit the $15,000/$50,000 spend requirements to get that though. This is a fantastic offer for those who can spend large amounts of money. Earlier in January this cards had $2,000 sign up bonuses as well, not sure if these spending bonuses are being targeted towards those cardholders or not.

My DP: P1 and P3 were denied for this card. P2 got approved somehow (this was ~12/31.) P2 doesn’t MS so I had to get an AU card for myself. Between being busy with work, P2 being allergic to calling banks and some odd C1 quirks, it took about 1.5 months to get the AU card rolling. I promptly knocked out the $50k in about 5 weeks. This card is great as the rewards post immediately and power and velocity right out of the gate are both on par with Amex biz cards.

Sadly we haven’t received this email. If I can talk my wife into it I might have her try calling in.

Am working on meeting the new account spend requirement on this card and it’s a painful process. I have lots of spend but Capital One gave me a pathetic credit limit of $2000. So I’m having to pay off the balance every time my spend approaches $2000. Tried applying for a higher limit but got a letter stating that credit limits cannot be increased within first 3 months of card opening.

We only get 6 months to meet the 50K spend. With a 2k limit how on earth am I supposed to do that?

Im not positive but I’m pretty sure you can spend over the CL and I also cycled the hell outta the card and was able to meet the msr without getting shutdown. Not sure how long they’ll keep us around though. I have seen at least one shutdown DP for not recent MS.

Called Cap1 today to see if they could add the offer to my account. (Figured it was worth a shot). The rep said she could not unfortunately, but she said that the offers will continue to be sent out over the course of the next few weeks. So if you haven’t been targeted today, you still could.

I haven’t been targeted (yet). I put about $7,000/month on my card. They are probably trying to nudge people who have spent a lot in the past, but are putting little to no spend on their card now.

I had signed up for the card in January with that 200 000 Spark Miles offer. I have not received any email about this offer.

I am in the process of this sign up bonus from when it was offered in December. I’ve been spending on my account but now I’m worried I went over the credit limit once. Hopefully that’s not going to stop me from getting the sign up bonus? I chatted with them online and they didn’t seem to care about me going over the credit limit.
