[Expired] Chase Cards: Free 6 Months Of Spotify Premium & 5% Back; 10% In Groupon Bucks On All Purchases

Update 6/17/20: Spotify deal has been extended until 9/30/20 and more people have been targeted for 6 months free. Hat tip to eidreezy

Update: seems like these offers are publicly available at this link. Sounds like the Groupon Bucks offer is working for everyone and the Spotify Premium offer is working for some people, even those who did not get the email.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer | Spotify Link | Groupon Link

Reader Tim got an email from Chase with a few offers:

  • New Spotify Premium Users: 6 months free then 5% statement credit for 6 months (enroll by 5/31/20),
  • Existing Spotify Premium Users: 5% monthly statement credit for 6 months (enroll by 5/31/20).
  • Groupon: Opt in to get 10% Back in Groupon Bucks every month for 12 months when you use your Chase card, up to $50 back per month. Must enroll by 2/28/21.
  • Free One Year of Shoprunner.

Our Verdict

Shoprunner is already free from Amex, Paypal, etc. The new Spotify Premium  promotion sounds good, and even for existing users you can get a bit of extra cashback on the monthly subscription payments. The Groupon Bucks offer can be nice too.

Note: You need to opt-in for the Groupon Bucks offer

Presumably these are targeted. I’m surprised I haven’t seen more reports of these offer, usually they go out in waves.

I just noticed I didn’t earn any rewards on the Spotify purchases. So instead of 1.5% in ultimate rewards and 5% back as a statement credit, it’s just 5% back.

Is there any way to come up with a code for this in the last few days? I have over a dozen Chase cards but I haven’t seen any email from Chase with Spotify in the message. I don’t even see anyone saying that they got a code through email – is there any way to get it by logging in to my Chase account?

Is it only for the single premium account or will it let you sign up for family plan as well?

I had been using the 5% offer but now that Amex added the $20 credit I’ve been splitting my Netflix and Spotify payments on that, so it’s not as useful

I hadn’t received any emails from Chase but was able to get the Spotify on both my CFU and CSR for my family streaming plan. We’ll see if it goes through.

Does anyone know if I can pay with Paypal using the CFU and still get the 5% credit from Chase for Spotify?

Do we get free family plan or credit?

I received credit for the Spotify family premium plan (was previously signed up for family premium). I just switched to paying through Paypal for next month, so we will see if that still triggers the credit.

BlissfulApathy, Yes. I have been receiving the 5% credit while paying through Paypal since I switched.

How hard is the cancellation part? Can I cancel after the 6 month trial period?

I’m paying with the Amex plat streaming credit now, but would love to put that credit to something else

subscription can be cancelled online right away, and premium remains active for full trial period.

i was able to “activate” using public link, but there’s no mention of free 6 months. is it only shown after signing up/logging in to spotify, or should there be at least a mention of the trial before that step to show that i’m eligible?

Did the Chase/Spotify Premium 6-months trial go away, or get downgraded to 5% off? I can find a link for the 6-month free trial, but after opening a new Spotify account with a new email address, it wants me to enter a code, and I don’t have one.

[edit to add] …or is it truly targeted and won’t work unless you received email from Chase with the 6-month offer? I think I and Mrs Redacted have like 12 Chase cards and have received zero email offers from Chase/Spotify.

If you’ve already had Spotify Premium trial you can just sign up again with a new email address, right?
