Our Verdict
This targeted offer is being sent out on various Chase cards, such as Freedom, Sapphire varieties, Amazon, Hyatt, United, and likely others. Just keep in mind that if you get $600 in total bonuses from Chase (referral bonuses, etc.), you might end up getting 1099ed for this, so actual gain here might be less than a free 500 points bonus. (Some on Reddit suggest that no 1099 will be sent out since the total purchases are more than $5, so it’ll be considered a rebate.)

I would think that the IRS (and Chase’s accountants) would consider this non-taxable like most credit card bonuses because it requires a purchase.
I won’t get this because I luv using contactless pay.
I wonder how Chase determines which card(s) receive these offers? I have a CSR, Freedom, Freedom, Hyatt and United … they offered it on the Hyatt?
Anyway easy 1,500 points just not sure how/why they chose the Hyatt?

That is a decidedly poorer offer when CapOne offers $10 statement credit each month for 3 months when you do contactless payment 3 times in a month. I am on the 3rd month now. Even though the posting timing is very inconsistent – Nov it was all automatic, Dec I had to call twice because it did not show up after 3 weeks and a supervisor submitted it for review – 4 days later it was posted. Jan the credit is pending since yesterday 27th when the 3rd transaction was done on the 24th.
Amazingly it is not that easy to use contactless payment at US merchants – CVS, Walgreens and Aldi support that, none of the grocers here, incl Publix, supports it. WalMart does not work. Dont shop at Target ever since they shut down the Superstore a mile from home. I dont know who else supports Tap to Pay, even though AMEX has that function since many years ago.
Yes. thru email. DH’s card does not receive it. Both cards are used very little. When the Dec credit not showed up in time I called CapOne. The phone rep said her brother’s card rec’d it but hers didn’t.
Got these on 3 of my cards last time they ran this promo. Did 3x contactless purchases at a local vending machine but never got the bonus
I also did 3x at Sprouts and haven’t gotten the bonus yet. They say between 6 and 8 weeks after the expiration of offer, and I’m on week 7. I keep hoping it will show up.
I took an L this time and last time on all 3 of my Chase cards. What up wit that Chase?
Got it on my United card. Many gas stations including Chevron have contactless payment. I just do all 3 transactions in one visit at the pump.
Got it for my CSR. I received my email after this post so if you didn’t receive it yet it could be coming still. This is an easy 500 points.
