- Chase is sending some Freedom, Sapphire, and IHG cardholders an offer to get 1,000 bonus Ultimate Rewards points when you use tap-to-pay three times. Minimum $3.35 purchase with each tap. No enrollment necessary.
The Fine Print
- You’ll earn an additional 1,000 bonus points, which can be redeemed for $10 cash back for 3 contactless purchases from 09/01/2021 through 11/30/2021 using your product during checkout. Each contactless purchase must be a minimum of $3.35.
- Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds.
- Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after the qualifying purchase(s) post(s) to your account for bonus points to post to your credit card account.
- To qualify, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. If you change your credit card product during the promotional period you will forfeit this offer. This offer is non-transferable. We may terminate this offer at any time without notice.
Our Verdict
Not sure if they’ll send out a tax form for this bonus; hopefully the fact that they are requiring 3 x $3.35 purchases means they’re trying to consider it a rebate and won’t issue a tax form.

Following up on my earlier comment: Got a letter from Chase a couple of weeks ago saying I would get the points within 6-8 weeks from the offer end date of November 30. Well, that means I should have got them yesterday, when my statement closed — and yet the 1000 points aren’t there. Wait till next month, a rep just told me.
No matter how this turns out, I’ve decided to stop using my Chase card. Judging from this experience, I’d hate to have to depend on them in a dispute with a merchant…
Just called and bugged them about the offer. They finally gave me the points. You have to call and speak to a supervisor. I have been waiting about 2 months for this.
Contacted Chase to see when I would get my points. Get this: They told me they have absolutely no knowledge of this offer. So, if Chase customer service is just totally clueless and I end up getting the points, fine — but I’m no longer expecting to get anything.

Got the 1000 bonus points on the statement immediately after using tap to pay 3 times.
Do all tap to pay purchases qualify for the additional 1000 bonus points, or does it have to be at specific locations i.e. Target, McDonald’s, etc…)
I used tap to pay at the coastal shops last weekend so I am curious if the purchases will qualify.
The terms doesn’t mention any restrictions on locations.

Tap to Pay ?? Is this the same as Contactless payment?? Chase had a similar promotion a few months back but I am still waiting for my $$$. Can someone confirm or elaborate what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

Last time I did this with Chase I got the points on the same statement with my third tap purchase.
Make sure to check that the points actually get deposited. Last time I got this offer, I did 3 tap transactions and I never got the points. Unfortunately I got busy and forgot to contact them, I’m guessing they would have given me the points if I’d sent a SM. It’s been well over a year now, so definitely too late now. It was only a few bucks so ehh.
