Our Verdict
This has been available as a public offer in the past. The nice thing about this offer is that there is not any sort of restriction on when/where the free night certificates can be used and you can also top up the certificates with points if they cost more than 50,000 points per night (up to 15,000 points per night). This is a fantastic offer and the best variation we see (normally when it’s flat points it’s only 100,000 points). As this is a public offer we will add it to the best credit card bonuses.

I’m comparing this to IHG’s 300k point offer and trying to determine which is better. The 4th free night, totaling 6 night stay, is enticing w/ IHG. Of course Marriot Boundless has the nice top off. Thoughts?
4th night free is on points or cash bookings, not free night certificates. You only get 5 nights
Question about the 5 free nights:
Sorry for the multiple posts. Can a mod delete the redundant ones?
I came here to ask when the 5 free nights start too. I know it starts after the certificates are issued but my question would be is that right when you meet the sub or is it right when its issued “within 6-8 weeks?”
Questions about the 5 free nights + the anniversary night:
Do the 5 free nights expire?
New cardmember bonus: To qualify and receive 5 Free Night Awards you must make purchases totaling $5,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Each Free Night Award is valid for a one night hotel stay at a property with a redemption level up to 50,000 points. You are responsible for all incidental charges such as parking fees, and payment of mandatory resort fees at properties where resort fees are charged. Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a Marriott Bonvoy® credit card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won’t count and won’t earn points: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. After qualifying, please allow up to 8 weeks for your 5 Free Night Awards to be deposited into your Marriott Bonvoy account. Your Free Night Award may not be combined with cash when redeeming for your free night but may be combined with Marriott Bonvoy points in accordance with the Marriott Bonvoy Terms and Conditions located at marriottbonvoy.com/termsOpens overlay. Your Free Night Award may not be transferred, extended beyond expiration date, or re-credited for points. Each Free Night Award issued will have an expiration of 12 months. If your account is not open for at least 6 months, Marriott and Chase reserve the right to deduct the 5 Free Night Awards from your Marriott Bonvoy account.
Anyone know whether the restriction excluding current holders of the Bonvoy Amex card is enforced?
Of course it is.
What are people’s thoughts on upgrading my existing boundless card to a Ritz card, then wait a week or so and apply for this boundless offer ? (I’ve had my existing boundless for 5 years). Thoughts?
ping, I’d love to hear an answer to this. I’ve heard wait 30 days, so I’m thinking about doing it now to be able to get in before 7/16.
I never had Marriott – newbie question. I keep seeing people mention topping off points if it’s not enough with the free night. Does that mean this offer is given as 200k pts and you can use it all on one high point property? Or do you guys have points from other cards/xfer partners?
You get 5 certificates for free nights worth up to 50k points each. You can use them together or one at a time. They can be topped off with 15k points meaning you can redeem a 50k certificate + 15k points on a 65k night. You can transfer points from Chase and Amex, but it’s usually not recommended since Marriott points are less valuable. Let me know if you have more questions.
Can the certificates be extended beyond an year? I have something in mind for next July, so was wondering. Thanks so much.
No. But you can apply now and hit the bonus after July. The expiration date is 1 year after the grant date, which is the statement date after you hit the spending requirement.
I did this last yr with Amex bonvoy biz card, similar offer, and though it was i think 5 months to spend 5K (can’t remember) so I made sure the min spend I did it last 3-5 days (as long as you remember or check the timer of when you need to spend to make sure you don’t lose out), and was awarded 5 nights in Dec (6 weeks after min spend)….so the only way you can extend it kind of…
Glad it’s back. I’ve considered the IHG but this is a much better deal for 2 destinations I’m looking at. The ability to top off makes it so much better.
Does anyone know if these FNC are part of 1099-INT/MISC from Chase? Don’t want to get $2500 as 1099-INT from Chase for taxes next year
No, just like any other CC SUB they’re treated as a rebate.
These certificates only work for standard rooms.
