The Offer
No direct link, e-mail subject line is ‘Earn $25 back after you enroll in AutoPay and make qualifying payments.’
Citi is sending out a targeted offer on their Double Cash card:
- Enroll in Autopay and get a $25 bonus.
Some people have the same offer but only for $15
The Fine Print
- You will receive a one-time $25 statement credit after you enroll in AutoPay by 07/20/2020 and make payments through AutoPay totaling $25 or more in the first three consecutive months after enrollment.
- Stay enrolled in AutoPay for at least three months to qualify for the offer.
- You must pay at least the minimum due each month by the due date.
- The statement credit will be applied to your account within 1 to 2 billing cycles after your last qualifying payment.
- To qualify for this offer, your account must be open, current and in good standing when the statement credit is applied.
- If you convert to another Citi product, you may no longer be eligible for this offer. Offer is non-transferable and only available for the account noted in this email.
Our Verdict
We’ve seen Citi offer an autopay bonus of $50 in the past. These offers are rare though so if you’ve been offered $25 or even $15 I’d recommend taking it as it’s unlikely you’ll see any better offer.
DP: $25 credit showed up for me on 10/2 after enrolling in autopay in June and having one $25 automatic payment go thru.
DP on a new email bonus offer from Citi DC:
Earn
You already earn 2% cash back on purchases: 1% as you buy and 1% as you pay. Now for a limited time, enroll in this special offer and earn an additional 5% cash back, up to $25, on eligible purchases¹ you make at:
Restaurants: including takeout meals and curbside pickup orders
Grocery stores: including curbside pickup and online delivery
Gas Stations
Drugstores: including prescription orders made online
Mass Transit & Commuter Transportation Vendors
Activate
To enjoy this special offer, sign up by 09/30/2020.
Phrasing is confusing for “additional 5% cash back” as the terms provide:
“This offer starts upon enrollment and will end on 10/31/2020. Earnings associated with this program will equal 4% bonus cash rewards on eligible purchases that will be posted as a credit on your account and may overlap with other special offers in which you are currently enrolled. Total earnings associated with this offer are subject to a maximum of $25.”
I use autopay, didnt get an email.
I got $25 for Costco and $5 for DC.
Who does not already have all cards set for autopay at least minimum
*raises hand* me? i don’t have any of my cards set to autopay. i don’t like giving someone permission to automatically take money out of my accts each month. payday loan ptsd.
I don’t use autopay because I never have all my bills paid out of the same checking account for long periods of time.
I have been trying to set up Accelerated Savings targeted offer since June 8, but cannot access the account despite transferring requested funding from another bank. Customer Service says they need more form completed but no-one can send the forms. This is a disaster !!!
I got targeted for the Citi Costco card but I was only offered a $10 Autopay credit.
My offer was for a $10 credit after 3 successful monthly autopays.
I’m starting to take offense. I finally got an offer that I could use a few days ago. It was $5 for auto pay and you have to wait 180 days to get it LOL…Correction, you have to wait 4-5 months after enrolling.
So you don’t remove it as soon as you get the bonus. They don’t trust you because their customers have not been trustworthy.
It’s called stereotyping.
Mutual distrust: a healthy financial relationship
The issue with autopay is that these credit card companies know that it is human nature that people who have autopay rarely actually check their statement for false charges.
And because it’s Citi there’s bound to be a lot of fraudulent charges…
Never thought about that. I didn’t understand why they would want to set us up for autopay. I thought they wanted us to miss a payment so we pay interest and fees haha.
I think they want you to autopay the minimum and pay interest on the rest.
please not that if one pays their cc purchases via autopay or manually, they lose their rights to dispute the charges later on.
Is this true?
