[Targeted] Citi Sears Card Spending Bonus – Earn 10x/10% On All Gas/Grocery/Restaurants

The Offer

No direct link to offer

  • Citi has sent out some lucrative spending offers to Citi Sears cardholders. Here are some of the offers seen:
    • Earn 10x bonus ThankYou Points (up to a total of 25,000 points per month) on eligible purchases (gas stations, grocery stores & restaurants). Must spent at least $2,000 per month, maximum earning of 25,000 points per month.
    • Earn 10x bonus ThankYou Points (up to a total of 10,000 points per month) on eligible purchases (gas stations, grocery stores & restaurants). Must spent at least $300 per month, maximum earning of 10,000 points per month.

The Fine Print

  • Valid from 01/01/2019 until 3/31/2019
  • Must activate promotion by end of the promotion period

Our Verdict

This card is great because of these types of targeted spending offers, this is the reason we have it ranked #1 on our list of store credit cards. If you don’t have the card currently you can sign up, but the only version available is one that earns SYWR. You can then product change that version to one that earns Citi TYP or cash back (TYP is best as it gets the most offers from what I’ve seen). If you don’t regularly get offers on this card then try putting some spend on it, that seems to trigger offers and usually after receiving your first offer you’ll want to put a lot of spend on the card and that will keep triggering new offers every month/quarter.

Still waiting to be targeted after nine months of having the card. Starting to wonder if it needs to be a year old.

Have had the card 6 months, put some spend on every month, no bonus offers yet.

Any DPs of PCs to this CC? Sorry, I couldn’t resist the lingo William Charles ; it was too good to pass up lol!

Thinking that might be the best route for me given how low the bonus is and not wanting to waste a new card slot.

I have tried that, nope won’t work. I tried to PC a Citi double cash, AA mile up and even a Thank you card. I finally relented & applied for the SWY Sears card and then PCed that to TYP version a week later. That’s the only way, as far as I know.

What about pc-ing to Swy sears card from anothe citi card and then to this? Would it work?

You can’t even add the Sears card to your Citi log in as Citi product. I had to add it as an external account. For practical purposes Citi Retail Services mostly acts like a separate company. In rare circumstances if you have a major problem you might be able to get SIoux Falls SD Exec Office to help with a problem (they can sort of help with Citi problems and DNSB/Citi Retail problems) but mostly it will act like its own wacky product.

Looks like right now you can get $40 after spending $50, sign up bonus.
Could I then product change to TYP after only a month or so?

You can PC as soon as the first purchase with the original card posts to the account.

I called in over the phone and was able to change the rewards enrollment from SYWR to TYP today. First purchase on it was yesterday. Phone rep “Princess” knew all about it. However she could not tell my the TYP number attached to the account – said it would take 72 hours to get generated and I would have to get that from TYP team later.

How long people have to wait to get these bonuses? I’ve had this for just a month. Way too early I suppose.

Man. If only I could transfer thank you points to Hyatt.

when you product change to Citi TYP, the card becomes Citi Thank You card. Then you won’t get offers like this anymore because this is specifically for Citi Sears card. The Citi Thank You card has different special offers, but never with gas or grocery. this quarter it’s clothing, electronics, department stores.

I thought the offers would stop, but I got the 10x on Gas/Grocery/Restaurants on monthly spend up to 1k and a second offer of 5k points for $500 spend anywhere.

I have gotten this type of offer 5 out of the last 6 quarters. Thank you Citi and Sears! Who knew when I applied 6 years ago for a $15 credit it would turn into the most lucrative card I own lol

I received one offer, spending at $2,000 per month. Should I need spend all of $2,000 on grocery or gas or restaurants? I am wondering if I can spend $1,000 on grocery or gas or restaurants, but another $1,000 on others, will I get 2,000 Thankyou points, or 11,000 Thankyou points (only the first $1,000 will get 10X)?

Happy New Year to all of you! Does anyone know if the TYP version of the Sears card allows transfer to Citi’s partners or do you need a more premium card such as the premier to be able to transfer? Thank you in advance.

rogbre

I have this Sears card. When I sign into the ThankYou website, under transfers it lists SYWP as the only transfer option. I don’t know if you can transfer them to a more premium card like Prestige or Premier and then they convert to transferable points?? It would be nice if the ThankYou points would pool together like AMEX MR.

HoKo

+1 on this question. Are these normal TYP’s that can be transferred to travel partners?

Kool Stone

Yes. I got the terms and conditions in letter saying it can be transferred to partners.

@ rogbre: you can call thanyou department to combine your two cards’ account to one, the points will be combined together.

How can we become (more likely to be) targeted? I read the comments saying one should put on some spending on it first. What are the ballparks of spending/month that people put on it usually? I just got the card last quarter but didn’t receive this offer
