  • Must activate promotion by end of the promotion period

Our Verdict

This card is very good due to these targeted spending offers and this is the reason this card is ranked #1 on our list of store cards. Feel free to share any other variations of this offer you received in the comments. If you don’t have the card currently you can sign up, but the only version available is one that earns SYWR. You can then product change that version to one that earns Citi TYP or cash back (TYP is best as it gets the most offers from what I’ve seen). If you don’t regularly get offers on this card then try putting some spend on it, that seems to trigger offers and usually after receiving your first offer you’ll want to put a lot of spend on the card and that will keep triggering new offers every month/quarter.

What is the consensus on this offer in regards to the pending bankruptcy? Should we still pursue this offer? Or do we think it won’t be honored by Citi? Advice is appreciated!

How the hell do you guys get these offers? I opened a Sears MasterCard a couple of months ago and promptly unenrolled it from Shop Your Way and enrolled it in the Thank You Points program. I still haven’t seen this offer in my email, do I have to do something to get it? Can someone tell me what the email subject line is so I can maybe see it more easily? I get tons of emails in the style of the SYW adverts, like get 100% cash back but the points expire in 3 weeks or whatever. All I want is the 10x TY offers lol.

Hmmm……. Increasing doubts about this card, just now…. I’ve long been a holdout for SearsKmart — that despite its CEO, I really wanted to see the retailer turn it around…… (and my family has done well with SYW promotions….) But at the moment, Sears is nearing rock bottom…. It’s now a penny stock (literally) — selling for 76 cents a share and falling.

What we’ve got is a giant game of chicken between Eddie Lampert, the sears board, & a federal pension guarantee agency…. (and a hostile financial press — beginning w/ Cramer & street.com) Lampert has offered to buy up Kenmore brand & such on the cheap…. to stave off bankruptcy…. But the legacy pension guarantee folks want a bigger deal — and in holding things up (if that indeed is the current fly in the ointment) they may get left with nothing…. At the last delayed earnings report, Lampert was explicit in warning that various desperation asset deals & debt reconstruction needed to be done asap…. (as in days) It hasn’t happened as yet, and the stock as a result dove another 50%….

Just as bad, and cynical as it may sound, all the recent 100% SYW deals (e.g., buy $300, 400 even 1k, then get the same back in multiple partial payments) seem more and more like a shell game — to create the illusion of present sales…. and promise of more down the road…. Wall Street ain’t buying it…. sad to say.

Yeah, I would avoid SYWR with a 10 foot pole unless you like the idea of being an unsecured creditor in an imminent bankruptcy…

5x, up to $50 credit. Boo.

Edit: Now I see this post is about a different offer. My bad.

The address you have there is the one they used. My subject line was “Activate now to earn 10X Bonus ThankYou Points”.

No kidding. The first few times I got it, I maxed out. Every time I think it’s going to end, I need to use it all. I was sweating until I got the Email yesterday.

I just posted in another Citi Sears thread that I changed mine today. I opened it in early July and tried to change it by SM’ing a couple times with no success. After calling in with 5 transfers and after 20 min, I was told it now earns ThankYou points. No email confirmation or change in the online account so I’ll guess I’ll just wait to see if the change was actually made.

What card did you apply for? Can you provide me the link? Thank you

Yes, I have, but it was a lesson in frustration. Took about five tries with a 15 min call each time. They always transferred me directly to TY dept., which, of course, cant do anything with the card account.
