[Expired] [Targeted] Discover: Add An Authorized User & Get $50 When You Spend $3,000+

Deal has expired, view more Discover deals by clicking here.

The Offer

Targeted offer sent out via e-mail, subject line is ‘Limited-time offer: $50 cash back’

  • Discover is offering some cardholders a bonus of $50 when you add an authorized user and spend $3,000 in combined purchases by December 31st, 2019.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until December 31st, 2019

Our Verdict

Previous deal was the same spend requirement, but for a $25 bonus. If you’re in the first year of the Discover it Miles and are getting 3% on all purchases then I can see this being worth doing. I guess you could also spend $1,500 for Q3 & Q4 and get 5% in rotating categories, but I imagine most people capable of doing that have already maxed out Q3.

Can the Authorized User have his/her own Discover it card, but still get the deal as an added user on my it card?

IIRC they require a SSN which is 1) ridiculous and 2) a dealbreaker for me.

I only have the $50/$50 referral link for the Discover it card. Is there a current place to share these as the final quarter 5% categories are for Amazon, Target and Walmart, (10% after doubling with a new card).

you should be 2x so its more like $100 for $3000… and Q4 you can buy $1500 worth of amazon credit for 10% back and now its more like $100 for $1,500…. I wish I was targeted

There’s no credit pull. If it’s a month where you’re not churning and have to wait before your next credit pull, it’s pretty sweet.

I got the offer, but no good way to use it. My oldest kid just turned 14 and they require 15. So I guess next year I will wait for some sort of bonus before I decide to get a card in his name.
