Instacart shoppers seems to be getting better. At least my last two were very communicative. Unlike Target, Instacart does not spread out the coupon value across items, so you get a full refund for OOS

I got my order delivered today. The order was for 100$. 50$ for an HDD and 50$ for other items. The HDD was out of stock. So it was refunded. I got all the money I paid back. So I effectively paid nothing. (I tipped them good).

Trying to keep their monthly active user numbers up leading into the IPO. Lots of levers they are pulling right now, take a deal if you can get it

Nothing this time. Time to stop using it for a while, I guess. Then again, I still have the Walmart 10 off 35 offers I can use this month.

Yep, works like magic: just canceled my express and bingo, presto, casho – two $50off100 coupons appear.

Counterpoint – have two accounts, one yearly express (CSR) and one monthly membership (CashApp). Cancelled the monthly membership last week and still maintain the yearly. Received my third round of $50/$100 on both accounts yesterday. One of the other rounds I received was when my wife’s account hadn’t ever had a membership. Time before that only received it on my paid membership about a week after signing up.

Doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason outside of possibly being targeted geographically. We’re considered Bay Area so that may be why. It’s all guesses.

I don’t see Instacart as a way to save money given that each line item is marked up 20% higher than in-store prices.

Mark-up epends on the retailer – Sprouts in my area has same prices on Instacart as in store. Also depends on the monetary value of your time..

Walmart isn’t. Costco is marked up but that’s the same as if you use Costco grocery directly. Most are used for Walmart.

It’s not intended to save you money. Just like DoorDash isn’t intended to save you money. Just like Uber isn’t intended to save you money. These are services. You pay for the services.

I received an email offering $50 off electronics purchase of $100 or more, twice, at a good list of stores, including Costco and Bed,Bath and Beyond.

I find no definition of electronics. Anybody have a clue or do I just put stuff in a cart and see if it works?

Works on anything, as long as it is at a listed store.

I just received my third $50 off $75 offer…used the first two. On the first one I hadn’t figure out about substitutions so I got some items I wouldn’t have chosen, but nothing tragic. Those were balanced out by receiving two pounds of Tillamook cheddar instead of two half pounds, at the sale price for the half pounds. Was way more fussy on the second order, so I didn’t get several items but I still got the full $50 off. It doesn’t really amount to $50 off, after service and delivery charge and tip, if you pay those. Now that I see the free express delivery membership for two months via Mastercard, makes these even a better deal.

My question: why is Instacart doing this? I assume the cost is shared with the stores? Is it to hook people into using it?

You should get your third and fourth 50 off 75 like me. I think they got new funds and wanted to beat other competitors like shipt so they run those promotions again and again.

I did get a third one and it’s a bit different. It didn’t specify which store, but I was sure it wasn’t for any store, so I asked the chat person. He said I had to use it at Walmart, although nothing said that on my end, and that I can use it for anything available at Walmart through Instacart….not just groceries. Maybe everybody else knows this, but I was not confident of that answer.

I put a $79 coffeemaker in my cart as an experiment and sure enough, $50 was deducted. Amazing.

Anyone who actively uses Instacart actually got these? We use it for 90% of our shopping and haven’t received any offers.

There is no incentive to give you an offer.

Just checked my email. Nothing for me on my regular account. I may have opened an account under another email once. Should go check there.

I have three accounts, only the two that had never made any orders or stopped using for a long time keep receiving those offer emails. Once I used one idle account, I stopped receiving any offers.
