The Fine Print

  • Payments must be made with a credit card associated with the eligible customer’s account.

William Charles HarryTheFirstHarry They’re not honoring the promo rate for any scheduled payments past October. I was told by a rep before the promo ended that the payment just had to be SCHEDULED and I confirmed that again after the promo ended. The rep initially stated that it wouldn’t be a part of the promo, but when I told him to confirm because I was told something completely different, he stated that it would be honored because of a glitch on their end. But, they sent an email asking people to resubmit their payments.

A few hours after receiving that email, I received a bunch of cancellation emails, and after logging in, I saw that all payments I had scheduled for payment after this month were gone. So it appears they’ve decided to allow payments scheduled to be paid in October to keep the promotional rate, but all later payments were cancelled and removed.

yeah as you and Ryan below. I got 40 something cancellation emails. At least we got October at the lowered rate. I love Plastiq glitches and this is not the first one. Makes me think they are doing it by purpose to collect DPs on how many people schedule how many payments.

Looks like they ended this early. I was able to submit payments with 1.75% a couple weeks ago. Today different payees and different cards are showing 2.85%

I’m not getting the discounted fee anymore. Was working every day up until now. Promo says that payments processed up until 9/30/21 11:59pm should get discounted fee, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Just saw the 1.75% targeted email from Plastiq. Am thinking using it to pay estimated tax to IRS. But the question is how can I attach the 1040-ES form required by IRS to the payment made by Plastiq?

Never attached any forms with 1040-ES payments, never had an issue (3-4 years, dozens of ES payments)

Does anyone know if you can use a visa gift card through the staples deals to pay a bill through this company?

Plastiq hasn’t allowed prepaid cards since 2019.

Is PPK going to work with this offer? Has anyone tried it?
Since this is a Plastiq promotional offer (so technically you are getting charged the credit card fee and not debit card fee)/
If it works then its a nice stack with Discover.

No, PPK does not work with Plastiq anymore – the charge won’t go through at all.

Ryan Goldstein
That was the fallout of the loophole of Q3/Q4 2020 right ?
Have you tried this year and it is still the same ?
It’s letting me add PPK. Thanks

I haven’t tried it recently, but as I recall there was never any issue adding PPK. The issue is that when you try to make a Plastiq charge on it, it gets declined.

It looks like the 1.75 rate applies to recurring payments as well. I am wondering if there is a way to schedule 1 year of mortgage the payments now with MC1 and then later change the credit card to MC2 next year which could be a new card needing to reach a spend bonus. in the past you could not change cards on recurring payments. Is this still the case? Hoping Plastiq would have improved on this as they do not stand to lose anything if a card is changed on recurring payments. Any thoughts?

They stand to lose the higher fee that you would pay if you switch the card. But I haven’t tried it.

I thought payment needs to be processed by Sept 30. How will recurring work then?
Unless you are setting up recurring within the month itself

Yeap this is what I was just told by the agent. The payment for promo rate has to be processed by Sep 30th.

Agent is wrong or system is glitched. see my comment above.

I set up recurring and it is showing the reduced fee for all the payments up to 2023. I don’t know if this is a glitch, but this is how it is showing up right now: It appears that so long as you setup the recurring payment this month, you get the reduced fee even if the actual processing of the payment takes place at a later date.

I see the same thing, but not sure if they would honor it after 9/30/2021. Any past data point of this kind of promo?

I was targeted for 1.75. Is it worth it to open Chase Ink cash and pay property tax? Or should I get Amex plat business?

Chase Ink Unlimited rather than cash but yes.
