Serve: $10 Credit for Paying Cellular Bill [Targeted]

The Offer

  • Get a $10 Serve account credit after you use your Serve card to pay 2 of your cell phone bills (minimum $35 each) directly on your cellular provider’s website.

Just use the Serve card number in place of your regular credit card on the cellular provider’s website and you’ll be eligible for the credit.

This offer is targeted.

The Fine Print

  • Must do the 2 bill payments by 11/30/15
  • $10 credit will post automatically within 30 days

Our Verdict

Easy enough to get the $10 bonus. Most cellular providers will allow partial payments, so you can probably just make two $35 payments and finish it off in one shot.

Not targeted alas.

With so many of the targeted deals–whether it’s credit cards, groupon etc, starbucks or what have you. I am pretty much never targeted. Anyone know if-how one can increase likelihood of being one of the lucky ones? Thanks.

I wonder, can you pay $35 on your bill with Bluebird/Serve, and pay the rest with whatever card you have been using already? I get 5% off with Chase Ink Plus…

Why not?
But remember it’s $35 TWICE, so $70

I use prepaid phone. Any idea if internet (at&t) payment will qualify?

Got targeted for once!
Do you know if it would trigger the bonus if I used an AU card instead of the primary card for the phone bill? Reason I ask: It was my mom’s card that was targeted.; not my or wife’s cards. If I pay my cell bill, the name on card & account will differ. Think that would matter on payment? Address is the same on both (and same last name).

Just checked the fine print. It specifically says: “Payments made with Subaccount Serve Cards are not eligible.”

Okay, I can confirm I paid my mother’s cell phone bill (not same last name) with my own Serve card and payment went through. Paid $35 one day and $35 few days later. 2 days after second payment now, and I see the $10 credit in my serve account.

Considering I already have my cell phone linked to my INK with the 5% cb it’s really worth $6.25 to me. Probably will pass on this one.

There are so many offers and opportunities out there and my time is very limited. I put a hard rule on myself that I’m not going to worry about deals I find worth $5 or less. In this case $6 is pretty close to that number.

However, curiosity killed the cat. Had a moment this morning to see how easy it was to prepay my t-mobile account so I went ahead and made two $35 payments but unfortunately only one is posting to the account. No idea what happened to the other one. My balance was already at $0 owed so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it. Maybe they only allow one payment and no further if it’s already negative?

I’ll probably now have to make a note to check back in a few weeks and attempt another $35 payment when I show a positive owed balance. It’s little issues and future commitments that surface that really emphasize why deals like this aren’t worth the time to complete. This is just my opinion and to each their own.
