Our Verdict
10% back at grocery stores and gas stations is great. It should work based on whatever Visa codes as Grocery or Gas; you can check the Visa Supplier Locator for specific locations. Max this out with a $400 in purchases.
Similar offer was around in June; though that one was for 15% back. I believe last month’s offer was able to be used across multiple shopping trips, this one should be the same.

Received offer on my WF Cashback (garbage 1% card that never gets any offer). Spent $400 at Kroger for GC on 4/17, transaction was pending and then disappeared until 4/19, then it reported that it posted on 4/17. Received an email from Wells Fargo Earn More Mall on 4/19 that I am getting $40 Rewards for my 4/17 GROCERY (MCC) – 10% Cash Rewards. I also did another transaction at Speedway (gas station) on 4/18, but that transaction was pending and now disappeared, so will have to see if that posts for 4/18 and if I will receive the rewards as well
My gas transaction came back and posted as 4/18. Received another email from Wells Fargo Earn More Mall that my transaction on 4/18 is getting $40 for GAS (MCC) – 10% Cash Rewards.
My grocery’s $40 reward has been posted to my account today.
Overall very quick processing!
has anyone been able to buy vgc from 7-11 gas station? if yes, what is the charge description (not merchant code)?
I bought it and simply shows as 7-ELEVEN 32680
These offers are great. Use my WF Signature Visa, buy a $500 Visa GC for $5.95, plus $1 for a $1,000 money order … 50 cents each. Costs me $6.45 (and some time) and I get (4,100 points x 1.5 CPP) $61.50 towards a flight. I think the Wells Fargo portal is pretty good.
I’ll update, thanks
Is this a new offer? The March offer is valid until April 18, and I have already used it.
I’m wondering the same as well.
I don’t think this is new either.
I don’t know if it’s new or that the previous one was extended. When I originally registered it was set to expire earlier (4/7 IIRC). Never got the chance to use it due to travel and didn’t have to re-register for this one, so I assume it’s the same one. There’s something similar in a previous comment as well. Hopefully someone else who hadn’t used it yet sees it and gets to use it now.
When I added it to my spreadsheet on 3/22 it was set to expire on 4/18.
I’m fine with this just serving as a reminder for people to use it before it expires.
Just checked – WF sent me an email with the original offer in March, the expiration date was 4/18, so I am not sure if this one will work. Maybe a trial purchase at a gas station might be a good check.
Well, I used the original offer and I saw this one on my account. Had to register for it again, if it it was old. I hope it will work again.
I used a couple of weeks ago and got credit for the offer at a grocery store and then when I went into my account it offered me the offer again with the same expiration. Strange. I activated the offer again. Not sure why it didn’t already show activated as I haven’t used it on gas yet. I wonder if I can get it twice?
Just because it shows you the activate button even after you’ve used it, doesn’t mean it’s a new offer, especially if it has the same expiration date. The WF Rewards website is a bit glitchy and I’ve seen the same thing happen.
However, you can definitely take advantage of the offer again even if you did it in a previous round, like back in January. I think I’ve done this three times in the past 6 months.
Very frustrating promo.. I activated this about Mar 24, 2021· expire date April 7.. Used my Cashwise CC April 4. Checked back April 5 only to see same promo expire date April 18.
Got email April 7 $40.00 will be paid for $500 vGC at Kroger.
I just want to confirm… Did you buy a $500 virtual gift card from the Kroger website to get the $40 cash back?
Will a stand alone 7/11 code as gas station for Amex propel card ?
is it 4000 for gas and 4000 for grocery or only one 4000
The offers are separate. You can do either one, or both.
Found this in the terms:
“Wells Fargo does not determine which item(s) and/or purchase(s) qualify for this offer.”
Does this give us a free pass to buy a $400 VGC?
Yes, gift card purchases work.
Should a truck stop work for the gas purchase if it has the same Visa MCC (5541 Service Stations) as a normal gas station?
Absolutely!
