Got a 2k+ spend coming up.
Is the best option to use Ebates together with the Amex 10% offer?
I heard that TCB doesn’t track as well as Ebates. Appreciate the help!

You’re all welcome. This is clearly because I thought that 14% was going to be the best they would offer and I went ahead and pulled the trigger on using my Amex credit. If I had waited for 17%, it would have been 22% the next day so my apologies for not holding out longer.

Thanks! Still needed to buy a lens and was on the fence. Please note – 15% at Dell Consumer only (I assume Dell Home). It sounds similar to Slickdeals rebate offer – purchase *must* be from Dell Home to qualify. Look at the top of the page before you place your order and make sure there is “For Home” in the item search path, or else you likely won’t qualify.

Now need to decide – Dell and hope for 15% cashback with sales tax, or Adorama and no sales tax.. Almost cancels each other out.

I’m looking at purchasing a laptop and stacking a bunch of discounts. Is my math correct?

Laptop price = ~1100
Price after Unidays student discount = $926
TCB Credit = ($157)
Amex offer (10% off) = ($92.6)
Amex Biz Plat Credit = ($100)

Net cost = $576

unidays discount does not work on TVs and sound bars?

I would guess you won’t get TCB if you use Unidays discount. Just guessing because it’s an “upfront” offer. You should be safe to use Amex offers because there is no way for retailer to know about it (AFAIK). Both are just conjecture. I have no clue 🙂

And yes  William Charles – it’s 17%, not 18%.

I’m pretty surprised that DoC didn’t post about Dell Slickdeals rebates. Based on my experience with TCB, I decided to go that route instead. For those who are interested, https://slickdeals.net/f/12830797-slickdeals-dell-home-tiered-rebate-50-off-299-99-100-off-549-99-150-off-799-99-and-200-off-999-99-free-s-h?src=SiteSearch

In general, I’m switching back to eBates/Rakuten. While their cashback % is lower, their payouts are much more reliable. They also have fewer exclusions. The cashback checks they mail have no expiration date. They even re-issued me the amount that they said I never cashed. Note, I didn’t contact them, they actually emailed me and said they noticed I never cashed one of the checks and they re-issued me my casbhack! Now that’s customer service! I also was able to get cashback *and* use 15% Rakuten code on their web site during their sale this weekend (for those who don’t know – there is 15% off site-wide coupon on Rakuten). And when I was buying my S9+ last summer, they (eBates) were running 10% cashback on samsung.com. I got that no problem. $86 in cashback.

Anyway, agree with other posted – TCB seems pretty shady to me. Kind of makes me trust DoC less.

The deal you posted is only better if your purchase amount is exactly between $550.00-$588.24 or $800.00-$882.35 or $1000.00-$1176.47. Compared to the TCB deal, it is kind of a pain to maximize properly, and I would personally rather not put in that much effort.

I agree that perhaps DoC should consider posting the slickdeals offer you mentioned, but I don’t think it should make you trust him less. Maybe he just didn’t know about it?

I also went with Ebates for my Dell purchase today over TCB. I’d rather have 15% that I actually receive, vs. 17% that I will probably never see and just get told “Sorry, it was the merchant” (which always seems to happen to me on TCB).Ebates has been great for me over the past year; TCB not so much (and that’s an understatement). The Slickdeals rebate didn’t make sense for me to use today, as what I wanted to buy was excluded, and my total was below the threshold anyway. But it’s good to know about options.

Hi Maz, is the 15% with Ebates sitewide with no exclusion?
Also this will be my first time using Ebates. Just wondering if I use a promo code would that invalidate the Ebates tracking? Thanks.

Orion Looks like Ebates is at 10% for Dell now. Regarding promo codes, Ebates will have a list of approved ones that you can use without invalidating your cashback. Using other codes *may* cause it not to be paid out (in my experience, it has paid out regardless, but it is not guaranteed if you use a code not provided by Ebates). Here’s their policy: “If you choose to use coupons and specials that are not listed on http://www.ebates.com or http://www.rakuten.com, we cannot guarantee that you will be eligible to receive an Ebates cash back reward on your purchases.”

I will try one other large purchase and record the transaction live. I have been burned a few too many times, but I am ready to sue (I own a law firm) if they dont pay this time (I took video of the prior transactions being denied). Enough is enough!

There’s a coupon on Dell’s website 50OFF699. Will using this coupon invalidate the transaction through TCB? Also, is the cashback amount calculated using the before tax or after tax total?

Did you try this out? Did the coupon wipe out the TCB cashback?

Best to screenshot topcashback page w/ 17% deal, then screenshot dell check out page.
And if you’re looking for an awesome laptop, XPS 13 rocks.
So 17% topcashback off, plus $100 per Amex Bus Card discount, plus Amex offer 10% off.
