People have been having a lot of issues with the BBVA NBA card that earns 5x points on all purchases during NBA finals and the all star weekend. I’d like to share two pieces of news that are positive (hopefully your account isn’t locked or shut down).
- It seems gas & grocery store purchases are actually earning 6x points during the promotion period. Usually these categories earn one base point and one bonus point. It seems that during the promo period they are earning this and then an additional 4 bonus points to bring the total to 6x points. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, but an extra 1% in cash back is extremely useful none the less. This should also mean you earn 7x points on qualifying NBA tickets, NBA in-stadium transactions, and NBAStore.com purchases.
- Even if you didn’t receive the e-mail for 5,000 bonus points for spending $250 at gas or grocery stores, you should still get the bonus. When we first posted about this bonus, we weren’t sure if you had to have received the e-mail or not – it looks like the bonus will post regardless.
If you combine these two pieces of news, you’ll realize that you’ll earn a massive $65 cash back (6,500 points) if you make $250 in purchases at gas or grocery stores. You only get the 5,000 point bonus once, but it’s still well worth doing.
It’s nice to share some positive news for a change, let’s hope there is more to come rather than the usual doom and gloom.
