The Offer

U.S. Bank sent out a spend bonus via email to many cardholders, including those with the Fidelity 2% card. There are various version of the offer:
- Get an extra point per dollar, up to 2,000 points, after meeting a minimum spend threshold of a targeted amount. For some people the threshold is $150, for others it’s $450, etc.
- Get 2,500 bonus points when making at least 5 purchases totaling $500 or more.
The Fine Print
- Enrollment required no later than November 30
- Valid for spend between November 1 – December 31
- Email comes with unique enrollment code
Our Verdict
I got the $150 threshold in the Fidelity card and the second offer mentioned above on a different U.S. Bank card. The second offer is quite nice since it amounts to 5x points bonus – on top of regular rewards – if you spend exactly $500. With the first offer, remember, you first have to spend the threshold amount with no bonus, only then do you get the bonus 1x per dollar (total 3% back) on up to $2,000 in purchases.
