[Targeted] U.S. Bank Cards: Earn $10 When You Spend $50 On Restaurants or Food Delivery

The Offer

U.S. Bank is offering the following deal on some of their credit cards such as Cash+ and Altitude Reserve:

  • Earn $10 when you spend $50 at restaurants, food delivery, or takeout.

The Fine Print

  • To be eligible for this offer that runs August 31 through October 31, 2021 (promotion period), you need to enroll by October 15, 2021.
  • The $10 statement credit will be awarded once you spend $50 in net purchases (net purchases are purchases minus credits and returns) during the promotion period at merchant locations that are classified in the following category: restaurant, including takeout and food delivery. U.S. Bank cannot control how merchants choose to identify their business and/or classify purchases and reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify.
  • The statement credit will be credited to your Account 2-3 billing cycles after the end of the promotion period.
  • The maximum number of statement credits is one.
  • Your Account must remain open, have available credit and be current (no minimum payment past due) to qualify. This offer may not apply if the type of rewards that you earn changes within 12 weeks before August 31, 2021, or changes before the statement credit is applied.

Our Verdict

Reader Shri saw this offer in their U.S. Bank mobile app. Seems to be targeted.

Saw this on the app and thought would add later but now it is not showing up.
Also can’t find the email.
The offer is still good until Oct 31 which is more than a month away so don’t think it died so quickly besides it was targeted.
Has anyone run into this type of issue? Any suggestions ?
TIA

Be very careful with this. I had the same offer in July, except spend was on gas compared to restaurants here. Spent the $50 and never got the $10. USB said they didn’t see such an offer on their end. I also goofed by not screenshotting it. Very frustrating.

USB says in T&C that, “The statement credit will be applied to your account within 2-3 billing cycles after the end of the promotion period.”

I had a similar offer from USB on my Cash+ last year. The offer was to link your card to PayPal and make a purchase of $50 or more to get a $10 statement credit. I fulfilled the requirements in the first week of October and I got the credit in my this year January statement.

Yeah, I had a $10 off if I linked their credit card to Paypal and make a purchase.
The statement credit appeared on statement #3 where statement #1 had the purchase.

was hoping someone could help me.. denied by US bank due to no relationship. thinking of opening a checking with them.. any advice on which to open?

Easy, Gold or Platinum? all 3 have 400 checking bonus.. just wondering if it matter relationship wise to open a specific one so i can get the biz card when i apply again after 6 months

If you aren’t in their footprint, they will deny the checking account unless you have an existing relationship. Most people open the Cash+ card or a brokerage account to establish themselves before applying for a checking account. The Gold checking fee is waived if you have the cash+ card so I would go that route if you manage to get by your catch-22.

I’ve been getting a lot of mailers with special targeted offers like this on my Altitude Reserve. So far I’ve gotten, 20% more points on all purchases June 1st – July 31st and August 1st till Sept 30th, $10 back when spending $50 on gas.

Shri
Can you elaborate how did you get two Cash +? When did you get them? Was it a product change or did you directly apply for a second one?

I also have two Cash+ cards. I mistakenly applied for two in the same month thinking I didn’t finish the process. I had a checking account with them at the time.

The short answer is by accident. It was not a product change.
For the first Cash+ card, I applied online and almost at the end of the application, it timed out. It asked me to call Customer Service which I did the same day. The Rep said that he was unable to find my application and he completed another application for me for a Cash+ Card.

I ended up receiving two Cash+ cards in mail in July 2020. I checked with Customer Service via email and they said, “You may certainly have two U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature® Cards.”
Hope that answers your question.

Thanks for taking the time and explaining this.
I’m aware of the Elan Max Cash Rewards but I would prefer to have two Cash ++ that way I can select TV, Internet & Streaming Services, & Cell Phone Providers for one card and Home Utilities & random category. I’m glad that is possible to have two Cash++. Currently using Discover PayPal Key and I’m hoping that Chase will have PayPal as category Q4 if not I’ll apply for the fist Cash +
