Uber Loyalty Program ‘Uber Rewards’ Review – 4 Status Levels

Uber has  new loyalty program called simply ‘Uber Rewards‘. This program was originally launched in selected cities, but is now available nationwide. Competitor Lyft announced it’s own loyalty program called ‘Lyft Rewards’.

Earning Points

The points earning system is simple, you will earn at the following rates:

  • 1x point per $1 spent on Uber Eats and Pool Trips
  • 2x points per $1 spent on UberX, UberXL or Select
  • 3x points per $1 spent Black and Black SUV

Redeeming Points

Points can be redeemed for rewards such as:

  • Free pork dumplings from P.F. Chang’s
  • 20 meal donation through Feeding America
  • 15% off next Uber Comfort ride
  • 15% off next UberEats order

In June of 2020 Uber removed the ability to redeem 500 points for $5 in Uber cash.

Status Levels

There will be four different status levels with each tier providing different benefits:

Uber has announced that on August 4th some benefits for Platinum & Diamond members will be replaced with other benefits.

Our Verdict

Overall this program is OK, I don’t think it would ever get me to use Uber when I normally wouldn’t but that’s OK. You might as well sign up for the program, just don’t expect too much.

I’ve been trying to join Uber Rewards for months now, but for some reason my app doesn’t allow me to join. I’ve been complaining to Uber support for months now and it is worthless. They say they are “investigating”, but that has been going on for 3 months now. Their customer support is worthless.

I’m in Vegas and just got an invite today, from within the App. I’m a measly “Blue” member, “on my way” to Gold.

Well, I don’t have enough plat credits for this.

Minimum redemption is 500 pts (which is $500 of uber eats/pool, $250 of uberx/xl/select)

And the points expire after 12 months “Points that are not converted to Uber Cash will expire for redemption purposes in monthly batches on a rolling 12 month basis.”

Not available yet in Honolulu. Also, not being prompted by Google Play to update the app so I’m assuming it is not quite nationwide.

Got it in Birmingham, AL! Based on responses below, I’d agree it’s probably most everywhere now. I would imagine you don’t receive rewards when using Freebird or anything similar?
