Uber has announced that in the coming weeks Uber One members will no longer earn 6% Uber credit on rides and it will be reduced to 5%. You will now be able to add an additional member for free. A lot of readers have Uber One membership by being an American Express Platinum cardholder (or the recent Gold deal). The full e-mail is as follows:
We’re always looking for new ways to improve Uber One, evolving what we offer based on what members value most. We’re making a few updates and want to share what’s changing.
In the coming weeks, eligible rides will start earning 5% Uber One credits instead of 6%. Credits can continue to be used on future rides and Uber Eats orders.
We’ve also recently introduced new member benefits that let you:

- Travel abroad with your benefits: Membership benefits apply in 45+ countries where Uber One is available.

You’ll continue to get Uber One benefits including $0 Delivery Fee on eligible orders, Surge Savings on eligible rides, and other exclusive member benefits.
One thing I hate is companies trying to position a devaluation as an enhancement. “We’re always looking for new ways to improve Uber One, evolving what we offer based on what members value most” is a ridiculous statement to make when you’re nerfing the main benefit of the product. Please treat me with the tiniest bit of respect and don’t gaslight me.
