United Now Allowing Fee Free Mileage Refunds On All Flights Through May 31st

Yesterday United stoppedĀ charging a mileage redeposit fee on flights they had cancelled. Today Dans Deals was able to confirmed that United is offering fee free mileage refunds on all flights through May 31st (regardless of whether United has cancelled your flight or not). This works on United & partner flights and it should be possible to do online, if it’s not then you can call in to get it resolved. I’d recommend doing this now before United changes their policy again as they are known to do.

Canceled yesterday. Miles did not redeposit right away. Anyone else have this problem? No refund on taxes and fees to my credit card yet either.

Cancelled and the miles showed up right away. Haven’t seen refunded fees on credit card though (in fairness, I cancelled 3 minutes ago).

Good for United to finally do the right thing.

Cancelled a mid-May international partner flight award and got my miles back right away! DRASTIC improvement over last time (last week) when I had to drag DoT in for a cancelled domestic flight.

I got excited when I saw this post because I was one of the people the other day who United refused to redeposit the miles. Eventually after a two hour phone call I got them to redeposit without fee.

I’m still overseas, and still trying to make it back to the U.S, so I can imagine having to try to book more flights, but due to COVID-19 entry and transit restrictions, the trips I book may become unavailable at the last minute.

Does anyone know, does United have this new policy in writing anywhere on their web site or any news release? I’d like a little extra reassurance before I start going wild booking flight options that may or may not work.  William Charles

Cancelled my flights 10 days ago and was charged. Do you think there is any chance they would refund my redeposit fee?

Mine was around the same time. I called yesterday and they would not refund the redeposit fees I paid. The rep offered a travel voucher/credit good for 12 months. I sent an online inquiry asking for a refund of my redeposit fees. Hopefully, I’ll get a sympathetic rep. I was also planning to tweet them directly later today.

I’m betting against United after their stock dump today. Down 8% right after the stimulus passed? Barely giving a rap about their loyalty program until they see even more losses? I’m out.

I just cashed out all my United MPE SUB miles on a Nintendo Switch. I might regret that after I dump 8% of my year into Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing. Or I won’t and y’all will wish you had a Switch instead of an apology email from United customer support. I’m not saying to rush to buy that merch, but I am saying that Nintendo Switch stock is high in value and low in quantity. Get it while it’s hot.

Thank you. Cancelled all my April international flights and got miles/taxes refunded without penalty. Did it online and glad I was following this since it would have been a pain to call and get a refund.

Now, I wonder if they are going under so they don’t care about putting back the miles anymore? :-/

Cancelled a flight for 4 on March 8, wouldn’t refund the miles without the fee, took a credit, called today, and they redeposited the miles in 5 minutes.
