No SUB for opening a Upromise Program account. (I already have both GoC and Ugift529.) Not eligible for $200 SUB when opening a Upromise Mastercard account unless also establishing a Upromise Program account. Not churnable per lifetime language. “You understand and agree that you may no longer be eligible for any bonuses and/or incentives in connection with a new Upromise Mastercard card account after this Card Account is opened.”

The standard bonus is $5.29 for signing up for upromise and verifying your e-mail. They’re giving out an extra $25 if you link a 529 account.

Same bonus if signing up through a referral link, but the person referring you also gets $25.

Do I need 529 plan to establish Upromise Program account?

Card itself gets worse with every new iteration.

Awful experience trying to redeem points. Have to redeem them by creating a Upromise account (but I could not because Upromise would not create a new account – website is a joke, no live people). a month of emails later – filed a complaint on both Upromise and Barclay and magically got a response and resolution. Was able to link a bank account to Upromise and redeem the full reward amount. Never again – Upromise is a shady, horrible customer service outfit. My 2 cents…

Anyone have experience with Upromise? Doesnt seem like you HAVE TO have a 529 plan, but is it easy enough to redeem the cash rewards as expected?

Upromise is an online-shopping portal. They’re owned by the same people who own Swagbucks.

You can link a checking/savings account, but I think they give you an annual match (10% of earnings) for linking a 529 account since Upromise is focused on college savings account.

It’s a $10 min to “cash out” to your bank account, which is done automatically on a monthly basis. It’s $50 to cash out to a 529 account.
