I know people are not trusting Alliant due to the point redemption drop in their Platinum Rewards, but I converted mine to the Cashback Visa Sig (no fee) and so far am getting 2.5% straight cash. Since it is $ and not points, I believe it is harder for them to change the value.

There is also the US Bank Altitude Reserve at 3% cash (4.5% travel) for mobile wallet use, though it has an annual fee. Since most places I go have Contactless, this works well for non-category stuff.

Is this only possible with POINT cards and not actual CB cards that give a percentages? Since they can devalue the points the way Alliant just did or simply lower the amount from 2x to 1x or 3x to 2x

I still have the USAA limitless card which is a CB card and they have not lowered the amount and am not sure if they are even allowed to, they stopped taking new applications a while ago

I figure i would apply for the AOD 3% card but maybe not if the possibility of lowering is a legal option for credit companies

Anything >2% is not profitable for banks. Unless you’re a big issuer who has enough % of people that carry a balance every month.

Not surprising considering 3% eats heavily into interchange and probably not enough people paying interest.

I just got the card about a month ago. I even cancelled some other cards to “make room” for this one. Sad day!

Should have gone with the AOD card

Let’s see if AOD lasts much longer. We’ve seen two 3% cards nerf in a few months.

Which other card was nerfed besides this USAlliance card?

From what I read, the AOD card isn’t easy to get. That is why I went with this one. Maybe I should have tried for AOD anyway?
