A number of places are offering freebies/specials for Veterans day. These deals are limited to veterans or active duty military unless otherwise noted. Please comment more of these in the comments and I’ll add them to this list. Also don’t forget to take advantage of the Military Lending Act and Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). If these deals aren’t available to you, consider sharing them with somebody who has served instead.

Target has a 10% vets discount expiring today. Might have missed this elsewhere, sorry if so, didn’t spot it. Stack with Discover 5%/10% or Redcard 5% cashback, I expect.

They email the coupon code after verification, which you then apply during checkout. It does not seem to work with Target GCs.
Dutch Bro’s Coffee franchise (PDX) Offered me a Free Medium Drink/Coffee (not advertised so YMMV -depending on barista).

Negative DP – No go at Subway in Modesto, CA. So annoyed.
Negative DP – No go on Subway at my nearest location in VA. YMMV
Positive DP: Chili’s & DQ. Added bonus, Carl’s Wash & Great Clips.
Very surprised there was no wait at my Chili’s, but I also went early at 1050AM.
Thank you to all those who serve or have served.
And to those people, make sure you don’t let us DOC readers down and take advantage of as many of these deals as you possibly can!
When I lived in FL, I’d go to 7 or 8 of these on veterans day at least and take to go bags after eating a few bites and leaving a tip. Sadly, where I live now has very few options.
Thank you for the support! And, LOL. I listed my main ones I tried on another post. I am lucky to leave in a big suburb and have lots of options. I hit a couple other small ones for the donuts at DD & Krispy Kreme, skipped the coffee, and did Little Caesars which will be my lunch tomorrow, but I am not going to loot the whole town. Part of me says it’s awesome to feel appreciated, and also a little like a scavenger hunt. But the other part of me says it feels like panhandling, and really, I don’t need a handout. Driving all over town just to get freebies isn’t my idea of fun, so I plan the shortest route to my main ones I want and stick with it.
Might go back out later for a small grocery run at Food Lion for the 10% discount. That’s enough for me. And the few dinner options are usually packed and it ruins the experience for the family, so we will just stay home. Someone else that needs the food can take my spot.
I used to go with my elderly neighbor who was a vet which made it fun. Not so fun going alone, so I don’t bother to go looking much anymore.
I take my daughter. We make a couple hour outing of it.
I live near a VA hospital and it’s actually hard to find any of these places that will honor these offers. I was just in Krogers and they announced over their PA that veterans could come to the Starbucks kiosk for a free coffee, but when I got there they said they weren’t participating!
I’ve heard Sheets gas stations with carwash machines offer free car wash on Veterans day to service members but I haven’t verified it.
Chuck E. Cheese – FREE PERSONAL PIZZA (1-TOPPING) For active duty, national guard, retired and veterans with valid Military ID or proof of military service.

I enjoy the rock show!
Got an email from Ruby Tuesday: “one free burger or sandwich up to $14 in menu value…11/11/2019 for veterans, active duty, and reserve service members with presented valid military ID.”
Starbucks – For the three other vets out there that don’t drink coffee, they will give you a plain hot chocolate instead. (Ref: This guy.) I share it with my munchkin.
