The Offer
- Wealthfront is offering a $100 bonus when you open your first 529 or custodial account by July 23, 2026 and fund it with the minimum initial deposit ($500)
The Fine Print
- The following terms and conditions apply to the Custodial & 529 Incentive promotion (the “Custodial & 529 Promotion” or the “Promotion”) offered by Wealthfront Advisers LLC (“Wealthfront Advisers”). Under this promotion, new or existing Wealthfront Advisers clients who are eligible and open a Custodial Automated Investing Account (“Custodial Account”) or a new 529 College Savings Plan Automated Investing Account (“529 Account”) account with Wealthfront Advisers can receive a one-time bonus deposit with $100 cash value (the “Bonus”) from Wealthfront Advisers if applicable terms and conditions are satisfied, as described below.
- The Promotion is time-limited, and eligibility is determined based on an individual’s account opening and funding timing. To receive a Bonus for opening a new Custodial Account or 529 Account, you must (1) successfully open a new Custodial Account between June 2, 2026 and by no later than 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time on July 23, 2026, or new 529 Account between June 23, 2026 and by no later than 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time on July 23, 2026 (the “Account Opening Window”); and (2) fund your new account with at least the standard minimum initial deposit required for such account type by no later than 11:59pm EST on August 23, 2026 (the “Funding Deadline”).
- When an eligible client opens and funds a new Custodial Account or 529 Account in accordance with these requirements, Wealthfront Advisers will credit the account with a $100 cash value Bonus within approximately two (2) business days following the date on which the account is funded. The Bonus to a Custodial Account will be treated as an additional deposit (i.e., in the same manner as deposits made by the client). The Bonus to a 529 Account will be treated as a payment from Wealthfront Advisers to you, followed by a contribution by you to the 529 Account. You hereby direct Wealthfront Advisers to cause such funds to be contributed by you, to your 529 Account. Bonuses will initially be credited as cash but will be automatically invested into the securities underlying the Custodial Account or 529 Account, as applicable, in accordance with Wealthfront Advisers’s standard practices and procedures if not withdrawn earlier. You may be unable to withdraw your Bonus payment prior to your Bonus being automatically invested. All federal, state, and local taxes associated with Bonus payments (including taxes associated with any securities into which Bonuses are invested, including any sale thereof) and any fees are the sole responsibility of the client. Withdrawals from Custodial Accounts and 529 Accounts are subject to legal limitations on use cases and clients should consult the relevant regulations prior to electing to withdraw funds from the account.
- Clients who are eligible for the Bonus in connection with opening an eligible 529 Account should be aware that the Bonus will be deemed a principal contribution made by them to the 529 Account and such amount will count against annual, lifetime, and any other contribution limitations placed upon 529 accounts. If you do NOT want to receive a Bonus in connection with a 529 Account, you must notify Wealthfront Product Support at [email protected] prior to funding your 529 Account.
- You can only receive one Bonus from this Promotion. A 529 Account that would otherwise be eligible for the Bonus, but has been funded with an amount equal to or exceeding the lifetime limit will be ineligible to receive the Bonus. However, you will remain eligible for the Bonus if you open another 529 Account during the Promotion Window and such additional account is below the lifetime limit. The Custodial & 529 Promotion is only available for new Custodial Accounts and 529 Accounts opened during the Account Opening Window and funded by the Funding Deadline. You cannot earn a Bonus by opening any other Wealthfront accounts, and Bonus payments will be credited to your new Custodial Account or as cash you direct us to invest as a principal deposit into your 529 Account. Wealthfront employees are not eligible to receive a Bonus. Recipients of a Bonus are eligible to participate in other Wealthfront Advisers account promotions unless prohibited by the terms and conditions of such other promotions. Wealthfront Advisers has no obligation to open an account for any particular person and may accept or decline an application in its sole discretion. If you fail to open a new Custodial Account or new 529 Account during the Account Opening Window, or if you fail to fund your account by the Funding Deadline, you will not receive a Bonus. Eligibility decisions will be made by Wealthfront Advisers in its sole discretion. Without limiting the foregoing, Wealthfront Advisers shall have sole discretion to determine whether any person qualifies for a Bonus, and to disqualify any person from receiving a Bonus if Wealthfront Advisers determines, in its sole discretion, that fraudulent activity or a violation of the terms of the Promotion may have occurred.
- Wealthfront Brokerage and Wealthfront Advisers reserve the right to modify or terminate the Promotion, in whole or in part, at any time without notice. Wealthfront Brokerage and Wealthfront Advisers have no obligation to open an account for any particular person, regardless of that person’s participation in any promotional program, and may accept or reject applications in their sole discretion. All eligibility decisions shall be made by Wealthfront Brokerage and/or Wealthfront Advisers in their sole discretion.
- In the event Wealthfront Advisers disqualifies a Bonus after a Bonus has been processed, Wealthfront Advisers reserves the right to recapture the amount of interest attributable to the Bonus previously credited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Our Verdict
Looks like it’s a 0.25% annual advisory fee. Don’t think this is really worth doing just for the $100 bonus.
