Whole Foods Loyalty Program To End On May 1st – Replaced By Prime Perks?

Whole Foods has sent out an e-mail to current loyalty members stating that on May 1st is the last day any unused rewards or coupons could be used. Whole Foods launched it’s rewards program only one year ago, but since then it has been acquired by Amazon. From May 2nd onwards Amazon Prime members will receive discounts & deals at Whole Foods, there are no details as of yet how this will works but they claim “something great is cooking with Amazon”. A full F.A.Q regarding this change can be found here.

Not just one loyalty program, but TWO.

I didn’t even know that Whole Foods proper had a new loyalty program. That had one years ago that they discontinued years ago, and I’d never realized they’d started a new one.

But a Whole Foods 365 opened in my area last year, and they have a separate “365” program, and it’s not clear to me whether that program is also ending or not (because I didn’t sign up for it, as I am Amazon Prime and kept waiting for the long-promised Amazon Prime tie-in to Whole Foods).

The new program had better be good. So far I am less than overwhelmed by the changes (or lack of changes) that Amazon has made to Whole Foods since acquiring it.

On about ten high profile items, yes. On the whole marketbasket, no.

The high-profile items have the absolute cheapest prices at WholeFoods nowadays.

I often use bananas for the 10 debit transactions a month requirements. They’re 49¢/lb at Whole Foods nationwide; most Walmarts have the prices higher all across the nation, even in many of the same markets where WFM is present as well. The regular bananas at Safeways in Phoenix are more expensive than the organic ones at WFM.
