This is not a very productive way to tie your time up for the next 3 years, even if it only costs a dollar more than the regular membership cost… which is not free, by the way.

Very click-baity headline.

Sell your XBoxes and PS4s and don’t buy future consoles, everyone. Go be productive instead. /s

There are adults that are worse than kids with their video-game addiction.

Microsoft offers XBL for $1 on a trial basis. Anyone that buys 3 years of Xbox Live – at one time – has a productivity problem.

In fact, even if you want to play video games for the next 3 years straight… you should do yourself a favor and take a pass, knowing that you are looking out for your own best interests.

Just think about it, if you ever do really get busy doing something productive with your life, to where you don’t have time for video-games… you’ve probably wasted a year or two of that Xbox Live membership — that you didn’t end up needing.

While you’re at it, why not also advocate that all forms of entertainment be canceled and we all merely go about researching how to solve cancer with any waking hours? That’d be great. Let’s only post deals that further humanity here.

Would it be alright if folks bought 1 year of XBL at a time 3 years in a row? There are folks out there who know how to get a good deal and play the games they want when they want. Buying 3 years doesn’t mean the individual plays every day those 3 years.

Oh, and absolutely nothing wrong with the headline. He’s right if you bother to click and read through that link.

“If you bother to click and read?” That’s why it’s called click-bait, because the title requires further examination to understand why it’s not all the way true.

It’s not $1, it’s more like $181, or $151, if you can find three, $10 off an annual deals. Still not a bad deal, if you know you’ll still be playing Xbox in 3 years.

But, definitely a click-bait headline; and not smart, regardless.

Getting rid of all entertainment is a strawman argument. No one posited that. But, buying 3 years straight of Xbox is for losers, and you know it.

You do understand those ‘losers’ are actually being financially responsible (the whole idea of this website) by locking in an amazing deal, don’t you?

How about you judge others entertainment tastes elsewhere?

The fact that you care about anyone else’s random web opinion says more about you than the opinion.

Unless you are a professional gamer, spending the next 3 years playing Xbox is not entertainment… it’s called being a recluse; and no, those people on the mic are not your real friends.

Anyway, a professional gamer would probably get Xbox Live for free. So, may as well pretend to be a professional if you’re doing something for 3 years straight, unless of course you’re just a loser in both games and in life.

Don’t take this so seriously, I’m just stating my own viewpoint, based on reality. Just take solace in the fact that you have a choice whether to improve yourself, or not.

Right, only professional gamers have 3 years of XBox Live in a row. Tell us more, master of real viewpoints.

I had XBox Live for the last 5 years on an employee discount despite only occasionally playing any games and mostly living life outside – was still a good deal when I needed to get some game or other because I’d have spent more buying those individual games. This deal makes great sense given it’s Gamepass for the same price as one would spend on XBox Live + $1, even if you only bought 3-4 games at near-full-price in that 3 year period given launch exclusives like GeOW5 will show up on it.

Don’t know what rock you crawled out from under or which relative you lost to game addiction that makes you think everyone who has a PSN/XBL sub for 3 years straight is a recluse.

Stick to your high horse, though.

The only reason it hits you so hard is because you know that it’s true.

You can try and claim that you’re only moderately addicted to video-games. But, if you were, then you wouldn’t be looking to by 3 years straight, for any amount of money.

That’s the point. It doesn’t matter how much of a discount it is. Have a better outlook for your next 3 years — than Xbox.

Also, sitting on a “high-horse” would actually be doing something.

Good, your horse seems mighty high from here. Keep at it, everyone’s a video game addict if they’re subscribed to XBL Gold for 3 years straight. Yup. You’re wonderful at making sense and logical arguments

That doc guy must be a real hoot at parties. I suscribed the 3 years as it was a good deal for casual occasional gamer as I won’t have to purchase a game in next 3 years as the passes offers too many

If you know someone who works for MSFT, employees have a company discount on purchases including xbox live that they can share with their friends. You can purchase 24 months of Xbox live for $50 this way.

With the multi-year Gold conversion method, nothing is charged after the 1st month is over, right?

Yep, just make sure you turn off recurring billing and add all your months of XBL Gold / Gamepass to it before you do the upgrade to Ultimate.

Best way to position yourself for this is to have a combined 35 months of gamepass + xbox live gold. Then you get the 1 month for the $1 deal. Cost me $1 out of pocket due to microsoft (formerly bing) rewards.

Extra information:
The Game pass ultimate includes Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Live gold for $15 a month. Game pass essentially is a library of around 100 games for Xbox and/or PC that you can play – and new titles are added all the time. For example, Halo 5 will be put on it at launch for both PC and next gen xbox.

If you have 3 years of xbox live currently, you can convert it all for $1. A $540 value.

If you purchase 3 years right now from somewhere like costco (For $150), you can also convert it. Essentially $540 value for $150 and you get the entire library AND xbox live gold membership for 3 years.

If you have a Gaming PC and/OR Xbox One, I would jump on this opportunity as soon as possible. Game Pass Ultimate is a pretty good value at $15 a month but a steal for $150 or less
