Our Verdict
Reader George reported seeing this incognito, and I got the same. We reported earlier today that the 100,000 bonus is now public, this is a similar two-tiered offer, but with an extra 10k in the first tier. Might be slightly better to use a referral link (mentioned in the earlier post), though after accounting for the tax angle that’s not even such a big difference. It’s also possible that you’ll be able to see this offer incognito using a referral link, let us know if you do.
Honestly, given the loss of the ease to use the $200 airline incidental credit, the Platinum cards are worth much less for me. Still, if you have an easy way of organically meeting the $25k spend requirement, it’s a nice bonus, especially if you can do it in $5k increments to trigger the 1.5x regular earn rate.
Standard offer on the card is 75k on $20k spend ($10k+$10k), this offer requires an additional $5,000 in spend and gets an extra 25,000 points. There’s also the call-in method which offers (YMMV) 100,000 points on just $10,000 in spend. As always you can read more about American Express cards here.
