[YMMV] Audible: Listen To 3 Audibooks In January & Earn $20 Amazon Giftcard

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Audible is offering a $20 Amazon gift card when you finish 3 titles that are at least 3 hours long by March 3rd, 2020 and continue as an active paying member through March 17, 2020 (this second bit of language was added after we originally posted)

The Fine Print

  • You need to be in a trial or a membership by 1/31/20. If you meet that requirement, then all you’ll need to do is listen to three titles by March 3, 2020 to earn your reward.
  • Finish three titles that are at least three hours in length between 1/1/20 – 3/3/20.
  • The reward email will be sent on or around March 17, 2020.

Our Verdict

Great deal if you’re already subscribed to Audible. Don’t think it’s worth signing up for just to complete this promotion though (first month free then $15). I assume it needs to be new audiobooks that you haven’t listened to before, but I don’t actually see that restriction in the terms (I could be missing it).

Has anyone received the promotional credit? I got an email saying I’d completed it and I should see the credit the week of March 17th, but I never got an email with the credit it in …

Some interesting DPs….

I have done several free trials and cancelled before paying, and somehow was still eligible for another one for this. I just went to audible.com, went to membership details, showed i was cancelled but offered a free trial…which i accepted.

Upon checking today, it shows my next billing date is 12/2/2020. Which makes no sense…..I confirmed i was not charged anything, and i am only showing as the gold monthly membership. So not sure if this is a glitch just in my favor, or others might have it? (check your account payment details). Or if this is just a glitch showing that date, but i will still be charged next month? In any event I took a screenshot just in case.

Additionally I was given 2 monthly credits instead of 1. Again…not sure if this was just a mistake for me? But worth checking if you have 2 instead of 1 credit.

And finally…i have noticed a glitch in their free monthly credits (i believe this works in their amazon first kindle books too). When you get the list of 6 books, if you right click on each, and open in a separate window, it locks in that “but for free” option on that page. So you can actually get all 6 (I think, i haven’t tried, but i have done this twice now and gotten 3 books and 3 audibles, will try for all 6 next month). So you would just go to each window, and choose buy for free and then check, and all of those titles should be in your library.

Hey  William Charles
was procrastinating on this and when checking the link now it shows different language from your screenshot here, mainly adding that you
“continue as an active paying member through March 17, 2020”

So might wanna update this. 🙂

P.S.: Just noticed that reader Trevor also mentioned it.

Can I listen to the books on my computer at the Audible website or must the books be listened to on the app on my smartphone?

For those unaware, you should be able to still get a free trial even if you have previously been a member. I have been a member and cancelled numerous times now, utilizing numerous promotions, including one just a couple of months ago, and when I log in, it shows my membership status as not enrolled, and offers me a free trial like a new user, even though I am clearly not.

Seems like this would be available for everyone so check it out if you are wanting to do this but think you can’t get the free trial because you’ve previously been a member.

I just logged in to my account on audible.com (even if you cancel your membership, the login and account and data still work, you just have no access to new book credits or any old book credits you didn’t use).

Then go to membership status, and it will show if you have the free trial option like I did. I didn’t go to any special link or anything.

The FAQ has one about if you cancel your membership before finishing the 3 books, but what happens if you finish the three books, then cancel your membership after? Will they still email the gift card?

From the FAQ page:

The reward email will be sent on or around March 17, 2020. You do not need to be a member at that time to qualify. Yo can cancel during your free trial period as long as you have listened to 3 books.

This is not true. Either the T&C were changed, or you misread. Quoting from the FAQ page:

“What if I cancel? Am I still eligible for the reward?
If you cancel your membership before March 17, 2020, you will not be eligible for the reward.”

Thank you  William Charles. I just signed up for the free trial and will get started on listening. The trial offers 2 credits for paid books and some audible originals are free so this looks to be 100% free for the gift card if going the trial route. I found the audible original book “Peter Pan” that’s 3 hours 17 minutes. Any other suggestions for books just barely above 3 hours? Also I didn’t see anything in the T&C about listening on 1x speed so I assume playing it on 3.5x speed is okay.

So Long, Lollipops by Sarah Lyons Fleming 3 hours 12 mins and Unheard: The Story of Anna Winslow 4 hours both free for members. Got them on 3x as well.

Unfortunately the FAQ says you have to still be a paying member on March 17 to qualify.

Oh sheesh, I just saw that. When I registered it didn’t have that in the terms (even the screen shot in the post is different from what is on the website now). too bad!

Hey I signed up for the free trial and saw this text on the offer page:

“Here’s what to do.
From now until March 3, Members who finish 3 titles that are at least 3 hours long will earn a $20 Amazon credit. That’s it. You’re already enrolled. All you have to do is just start listening.”
