The Offer

No direct link, offer shows on the receipt

  • Some people are seeing offers for $6 off $60 or $8 off $80 or $9 off $90 on their Kroger receipts

The Fine Print

  • Standard exclusions apply
  • Valid until 12/21
  • Limit 1 offer per household

Our Verdict

I imagine this won’t work on gift card purchases unfortunately, but might be good for general use. Make sure to use a credit card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

Not in the sense of “coupon fraud” but I don’t think that coupon is very “exclusive” — there don’t appear to be enough digits for it to be single-use. However, I wouldn’t expect any cashiers to take reproductions!

coupon codes not unique as they are 10000 for the first part of sku. That means its a store coupon.
I know when I worked for Krogers some managers did allow you to use multiple of these style coupons in an order. (not hardcoded)
Example:
Bill ways $100 pretax
use a $5 off $50, the system checks its over $50 clears
use a $7 off $70, the system checks its over $70 clears

If you had an order that was $50 pretax with a $5 off $50 and you used some coupons that brought it below $50 pretax you would need to get an override. Smart cashiers looked for these to avoid an override. (Because we don’t want to wait around for someone to run over)
Some customers just put the second one 3-4 coupons deep in a stack. Most cashiers didn’t notice or care once we enforced you needed the $120 in spend for using both $70 and $50 coupons.

As for dollar amounts you receive its typically $10-$20 over what you normally spend. Targeted ones were usually $5/50 to $15/$150 range on these types of sku’s

the usual exclusion list is gift cards, booze, tobacco, gift cards, stamps, lottery, money services

Very few things are hard coded at Kroger. Only things I’m aware are SOME fake coupons. Basically the free $20 item from a fake site. I’d estimate about 15% off fake coupons were hardcoded. They are very slow to update anything.

Cashiers are given no training on coupons or other “advanced things” like wic, coupons, oddities in the system… Its very bare minimum. Log on, scan, payment produce codes. If you have a good teacher they will show you some things. Most cashiers took it as you got to sit for an 30 minutes to an hour (seriously that’s all the training they get).

One huge oddity is produce is rung by typing the 4 digit number and hitting enter. Most items that are quantity will buzz and ask for quantity. Some (cucumbers I think) won’t and will just ring one. Had one cashier argue that she was ringing it right when she charged 50 cents for about 20 cucumbers. She claimed it was by weight because it didn’t ask for quantity.

Also with some groups buying 50+ of an item (usually churches or businesses) you could do # quantity button scan. Some items would work some wouldn’t.

Also there is a form for requesting items (gift cards in particular for our community, the $1k vgc even). Most csr are to lazy and make things up. Anything by Blackhawk network can be stocked. Most of the time you are better off sending an email because that request goes to department heads and most won’t bother.

I also do mo on a separate kroger plus card from vgc purchases because I request gift cards at multiple stores and I rather not let csr see that I buy vgc and mo. But showing you bought $xk of vgc at that store for x months at that store for “business purposes” is a good way of getting them to stock $1k when you email them. That way they know you aren’t just scamming them.

Wait a sec. You’ve bought $1k denomination VGCs at Kroger? And you can simply ASK them to stock them? I’ve never seen a $1k VGC at any Kroger in my life. Also, VGCs at Kroger are not even from the Blackhawk network, they are from US Bank.

If your info is otherwise accurate, there will be a slew of MSers calling their local Krogers tomorrow asking them to stock $1k VGCs.

Comment on Blackhawk is only for closed loop.

I might of been able to get it because I worked for kroger and the manager knew my “business.” But knowing their system show them your vgc history with no charge backs via email. Ask for $1k. you might be lucky. That’s the best way from my insight on the company. Be persistent. They can. Just might take a bit of arguing.

I think I might have a bit of a unique situation with getting the vgc stocked in the way I did way. Managers know me. They refuse to touch me because I have cross training in the entire store, successful whipped them when I worked there for consistent “breaking union rules” and some discrimination. that got me a “if he claims this he gets this” ruling.

Last week saw a new store manager register. That’s a violation because of contract. I buy my vgc mention I can apply come down with a job so a claim get 4 hours of pay and quit since I know register. Unique situation to say the least.

Kroger customer requests form
https://imgur.com/gallery/9zQGU5i

This is what you need for in store of you are going that route. A lot of csr do not know where it is. In my experience the 6 am till 2 pm person is the one who does tills will be the most informed about this.
