Our Verdict

Pretty nice discount for prime members, you could pair this with the Discover it for 5% cash back (doubled if it’s your first year) or the Blue Cash Everyday/Blue Cash Preferred for another 10% off (you can view a full list of the best credit cards for Amazon purchases here).

I just wish I had a wedding coming up now!

Might want to point out that Amazon Student Prime is excluded:

The Prime 20% off Wedding Gift promotion will be limited to Prime customers who are members of Campus, Fresh, Prime Members with Shipping Benefits, Prime members with Mom benefits. This excludes trial, Student and Invitee members.

  2. WR says:

Would unscrupulous people like me be able to register for this promotion without actually having any intention of getting married?

  3. Justin says:

So it looks like to qualify, we will need to create a wedding registry for a date at least 30 days out, and make one purchase from that registry?

  4. GMoney says:

I had a legit wedding (never got the code) but just chatted with support and just got $400 off the LG OLED TV I knew nobody would buy me. Had my dad buy me one item to qualify for the registry. So easy it’s not even funny!

Im a happy Amazon customer, plus I can to a price match off Amazon if I find a cheaper price elsewhere!

  5. Randy says:

    Anyone want to get married?

  6. Vadim says:

So how does it works? I need to create registry now, add item(s) to it, then buy it 30 days later and afterwards I’ll receive discount code?

    • You need to create a registery for a wedding that is more than 30 days away and then somebody needs to buy at least one item. At least that’s my understanding.

      • T says:

Looks like they upped the requirements on purchases to activate the completion discount:

“Registrants that have completed their Amazon Wedding Registry of $500-$999.99 will receive a 20% Wedding Gift discount that may be used only one time for one order of up to an aggregate of $1,000 USD (a maximum discount of up to $200 USD for Prime members).”

Am I correct to assume I need to add and buy items off my registry ($500-1000 worth) to receive a 20% off discount?

  7. Jay says:

These two sentences seem to contradict each other:
“If you created your registry less than 30 days before your wedding and no purchases were made off your registry, you will not be eligible for the promotion.”
“Please note your registry must be active for at least 30 days before you are eligible.”

Just to be on the safe side I set the “date” about 35 days out. Based on the first quote, it doesn’t seem like a purchase is necessary. I’ll still buy something so there’s no hiccup.

  8. AC says:

Will this work together with the Amazon move discount? Anyone tried?

  9. Judy Jones says:

I set mine for next May and need to buy a new riding mower in June, Keeping my toes crossed as that will save $400!!!

  10. Justin says:

So has anyone gotten the coupon? It’s been 19 days past my “wedding” and nothing yet.
