Our Verdict

Some Best Buy locations stock Visa & American Express gift cards, they also stock third party gift cards online. We previously wrote a detailed post on how to maximize these types of offers by purchasing gift cards at Best Buy and bestbuy.com in the post, Everything you ever wanted to know about Buying Gift Cards at Best Buy.

[If you have a Best Buy credit card, there are some additional interesting option which we wrote about, in the post, Gas and Restaurant Gift cards at 7-17% Discount – Making a Case for the Best Buy Credit Card.]

I made three separate $400 per transaction $200 x 2 denom) purchases of Visa GCs at Best Buy. I provided my ShopKick ID (scan of SK barcode on mobile app) and was given 1661 “kicks” in addition to the AMEX offer and BB points, per transaction, BUT limited to 2 visits/week (my third transaction did not get kicks).

It seems SK is giving kicks at 4x the transaction value at BB? And reverted back to giving kicks for GC purchases, not just the activation fees? Maybe temporary glitch?

1661 kicks = $6.64

Anyone know when Shopkick weekly “clock” resets?

I was wondering if you have to purchase the $250+ in one transaction to get the $25 promo?

iPad mini 3’s (128 gb) are on sale from Best Buy right now. That’s a good money making opportunity.

Do you still earn Best Buy rewards points on Visa GCs?

I’m also curious about this. I got points last time buying BestBuy gift cards online and using those to purchase Visa Gift Cards. This post by DoC https://www.doctorofcredit.com/everything-you-ever-wanted-to-know-about-buying-gift-cards-at-best-buy/ seems to say we will get points for Visa Gift cards but I would love to hear from someone who has a first hand account of getting reward points for purchasing Visa GCs in store.

Once you begin the Two Smile process it takes you out of HP completely so I think you really would be taking one for the team.

Only one way of knowing, someone has to take one for the team. They have Kmart gift cards which can be used for other things.

There’s an HP offer I received too. Wonder if Two Smiles would work for that.

Conflicting?

I would say it doesn’t conflict if the third party are actual cards. Petco offer had same verbiage. I bought an actual gift card card and got my offer.
