Our Verdict

I’m not a cruiser so I have no real idea if this is a good idea or not. Not exactly clear if you can combine this with other discounts as well or not. This comment says it works towards the CHEERS program and on board credit even though the fine print says that that’s excluded. Doesn’t work on gift cards.

Hello guys. I used offer on my cards (credit posted alredady), but now I need to cancel the cruise. Any idea if I can cancel the cruise and then rebook another one and keep the $100 from the offer?
Thanks

Is this a targeted offer? None of my 5 cards show this offer. Please advise.

I wonder if this is like previous offers in the past where you can pre-purchase onboard credit directly from the cruise line and it still counts as the charge will show that it came from the cruise line.

Hello guys. I don’t get it… do I need to enroll the card somewhere under AMEX offers? Or any AMEX issued card is eligible? Thanks

I have used this deal in the past and it was worth it (although it came with some headaches). I spread the total spend across 6 different cards for 3 separate rooms booked and used it to pay for the Carnival cruise, prepaid gratuities, on board credit, and the cheers program. The cards that went towards the cheers program did not automatically trigger the offer as the charge came through as “Bon Voyage” and not “Carnival.com”. I followed all rules and booked the beverage package at time of booking the reservation so I had a case to have AMEX honor it. I was able to get them to honor the deal, but it took multiple phone calls, chats, and direct messages. All the other purchases automatically triggered the AMEX offer.

Trying to book a 8k cruise with Holland, we have 10+ plus cards. Wonder if it will work with multiple $500 charges…

It did for me when we spread $3000 over 6 cards.

Not that I am aware of. I used a travel agent to do it and they talked to a rep.

Considering on most cruises you can charge casino credit on your cards, if the cruise line lets you use multiple cards(not sure if they do), you could potentially make hundreds by simply taking credit, then cashing out at the cashier

Too bad I’m cruising on Royal this year, or I could have taken advantage

‘Course, that’s no guarantee that casino loads wouldn’t trigger the offer anyway, but my guess would be no.

Based on my experience with Amex Offers, and the verbiage used, I would bet as long as it lists the cruise line then amex will credit you.

But obviously no guarentees…
