If you go to the Lufthansa homepage, you’ll see a a link to their co-branded card with Barclaycard and also a note saying it’s your last chance to earn this bonus as it’s due t expire on October 2nd (see below).

- 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases
- Free FICO scoreÂ
- No foreign transaction fees
- Two Lufthansa Business Lounge vouchers annually (note despite the name Business is their lowest class of lounge, senator is higher and 1st is their highest class of lounge)
- 0% Introductory APR for 15 months
Lounge Vouchers
You’ll receive two lounge vouchers after your first purchase, you’ll receive another two lounge passes as long as the account stays open and in good standing for 45 days after the annual fee is paid. Vouchers are valid for one year and each voucher is valid for one cardmember or travel companion at Lufthansa Business Lounges worldwide. Allow two weeks for the vouchers to post to your account.
It’s interesting that they say that the account has to be open and in good standing for 45 days after the annual fee is paid, obviously they are trying to cut down on people that get the anniversary benefits and then cancel their cards before the annual fee is paid. Although Barclaycard will refund the annual fee as long as the card is cancelled within 60 days of the annual fee posting, so maybe it’s still possible to use a work around.
Our Verdict
This is as high as the bonus goes on this card, I thought 50,000 miles was going to be the standard bonus on this card but it looks like that isn’t the case. Will be interesting to see how this bonus changes after the 2nd. I’d also recommend reading our post on things you should know about Barclaycard before applying. You can view the Lufthansa award chart here to see how far 50,000 miles will take you. Also keep in mind that only SPG points transfer into Lufthansa (Chase UR, AmEx Membership Rewards & Diners Club do not).

It now ends at 9/30!
Terms say “available to new cardmembers only”. I had this card 2 or 3 years ago and loved it. Does anyone have data points on if “new cardmembers” means never had it before, or just don’t have it currently?
Not enforced
After reading other blogs and comments on this program, Lufthansa rewards appears to be complicated for partner redemptions and fee happy.
Any Lufthansa rewards users opinions here? The good, bad, and ugly?
they do charge YQ, yes.
but if you want to book LH F far in advance and/or multiple seats, it is still worth it, especially to Asia.
also excellent for US domestic/Hawaii awards… no YQ.
The only problem I’ve had with Miles and More is that you have to call in to book United awards, yet their call center is only open Monday-Friday. More than a few times I’ve found a seat I wanted on the United website late on Friday night, and by Monday morning it’s long gone.
Calling in definitely complicates redemption especially on near full rewards flights. Also waiting on hold for extended time can be a major complication.
Being able to everything online is a lifesaver and time saver in many situations in my experience.
This places Lufthansa way down on my list of must need airline CCs.
I’ve found it useful for biz/first class domestic on United. It’s a value at 17.5K per OW.
