Our Verdict

Southwest award flights cost are tied to the cash price so always a good idea to find the cheapest flight you can. Keep in mind all three Chase Southwest cards are up to 60,000 points currently as well (but you would not get them in time for this sale). Also worth checking if you already have flights booked to see if it makes sense to rebook.

I was looking for Thanksgiving fare (11/26). To my surprise, it showed the wanna get away fare for one of the session. Later when I went back to add one more pax, wanna get away fare disappeared. hmm 🙁

you need to set up real time alerts from crapload of services and have them funnel into your device and always be ready to buy. air prices are a real-time circus. have you ever experience online shopping on black friday or cyber monday? its online warfare dude. scanning the skies is no different.

Flights move quickly on Southwest and can be a real pain. Last Month it wouldn’t let me book a companion pass ticket even though the two higher price levels had tickets listed for sale. (I believe it was a time delay.)

Once I cancelled my primary fare, all 3 price levels opened up. (At reasonable prices). I rebooked my primary ticket and then all tickets were sold out again.

Apparently they were listing a Wanna-Get -Away price even if it was the last available ticket. Live and learn – Book the potential itinerary including companion pass before the dates get too close.
