Citi Has Removed The Hilton Cards From Their Website – Should You Apply Now?

Earlier today Citi removed both of the Hilton co-branded credit cards from their website. When you view all Citi credit cards the cards are no longer displayed. Also, they are not shown on the Hilton credit card page eitherAmerican Express will become the exclusive issuer of Hilton cards from 2018 onwards.

It’s still possible to apply for both the Citi Hilton cards. The best offers are as follows:

For those not familiar with the 24-month language I’m talking about you should read this post. That means if you’ve opened or closed a Citi Hilton card within the past 24 months you’d only be eligible for the no annual fee card without that language. I think the Reserve is the better offer, so if you’re going to apply, I would apply for that card if you’re eligible.

Should You Apply?

This decision is a tough one. It seems strange that Citi would pull both cards with still almost six months left to run on their contract, but they might have reasons to do so. It’s impossible to know without knowing the intricacies of their current contract with Hilton. The no annual fee card is frequently at 75,000 points, but I doubt we will see a link for that without the

The no annual fee card is frequently at 75,000 points, but I doubt we will see a link for that without the 24-month language in it again. So if you’ve opened or closed a Citi Hilton card within the last 24 months and value the 40,000 point sign up bonus I’d recommend getting that card again.

If you haven’t opened or closed a Citi Hilton card in the last 24 months, then your main option is the Reserve card. We’ve seen this card come with a $100 statement credit before as well. I’d probably hold off on a better offer for that card but that is just my gut feeling, and I could very well be wrong.

The other thing to remember is that the cards might have just been taken down for routine reasons or they might be preparing better offers. It’s tough to know at this stage.

Use this link for the Reserve: https://www.citicards.com/cards/credit/application/flow.action?app=UNSOL&sc=62HZ17A7&m=11D5L00101W&B=S&ID=3004&ProspectID=Pp7r5qzSGgHhqgzue9rEpAsZMQTb8vJg&intc=7~7~66~1~PDP~1~CMSDefaultOffer~62HZ17A711D5L00101W

The shortened link up top in the post leads to an incomplete app submission on Citi’s end for many if not all people, they have no idea what to do with it. Reps have been telling people to wait and wait and also gave the “offer is no longer available” answer. I’ve been told all of that as well. There was no hard pull and status check gave error. I re-applied using the longer link and received instant approval. Hard pull was instant and status check worked. Oh, and supposedly someone heard 6/15 is last day for Hilton apps?

My wife just applied for the Reserve yesterday and it went pending. She called today and they told her she was declined because the offer is no longer available. I’ve never heard of that. I guess I’ll try to get her to call again

Can anyone answer this question: Can I use the two free weekend nights for 2 rooms on the same night (Fri, Sat or Sun) or can you only use one certificate per one weekend night?

I see the link and can go directly to the offer for the Reserve. Does the Reserve card ever come with bonus points in addition to the free nights? I also see a link for the no-fee version if I click on my offers…the second page has an 85k offer for this one. YMMV

Have an AF coming up for the Reserve in July – will I still be charged that since they are discontinuing these?

Does the Reserve card actually give you 2 Free Weekend nights upon $2500 spend. The T&Cs seem to suggest one night and then a 2nd night upon $10K spend in the first year?

You get 2 free weekend nights after meeting the minimum spend. If you spend an additional $10k within one year, you will get an additional free night.

Correction: Not additional $10k but a total of $10k.

Are you sure these are going away and it wasn’t just routine maintenance? The cards show up for me on my phone and desktop. I just applied for the Reserve and wasn’t instantly approved. I thought about waiting for a better offer, but if the best offer ever was an additional $100 credit then I figured I could ask for a match if a better off comes along.

Used the “direct link to offer” on this page, instantly approved. Easy way for 40k points and no AF that will never be available again. Thanks DOC!
